I think the right decision was made to suspend it and if looking at the situation logistically and in fairness to MC I do not see rescheduling for Saturday to be a good decision. I will gladly explain my reasoning but as much as I hate it as a fan I think the sensible decision was made.

The SC Admin made the call. Jennifer Dean the new Principal @ MC just started on the job less than a month ago. She was calling the Charter Bus company to make sure the drivers could stay later.

It was a joke...they absolutely made the right call. My guess is it would have been cancelled and it would have been like lb. E it was never played. Like last year.

When DF was lining up to kick off to start the second half the guy beside me said the last team with the ball wins.

For arguments sake, let’s say MC kicked a FG to go up by three with three minutes to go and the game was halted. Do you think the game should have been considered complete and a win for MC? Even if they scored a TD and kicked the PAT? If DF connects on the previous FG attempt should they have been declared the winner? I would day no to each of those scenarios.

I think both coaches wanted to finish the game.

The facility had a lightning detector placed on top of the visitor side concession stand which is beside the school building end zone. It has a yellow light. When it detects a lightning strike within ten miles a red light flashes and an alarm sounds. It is an automated system that is turned on and allowed to run. It sound a few times after the teams left the field of play the last time..

yeah Btango, they had those lighting detection alarms in Orlando when I wen this year. Every day between 5-7pm they went off and they cleared the pool, cleared Disney outdoor rides. and you know what never issue. Just curious on the last lightning strike at a football game? What are the chances in reality or is it simply a liability issue? Just asking because its almost to the point of wy even start football pre- mid september?

One of my former workers in the professional touring industry developed a lot of the lightning and safety protocols used for events today. I will try to get in touch with him but he is tough to catch up with.

I have no idea but everything today is a liability issue. A certified trainer with very little experience just out of college has more authority than a head coach with thirty years experience it seems. That may be sensible in some ways but it may also take out the common sense at times. Storms are coming lets play early. No! We cannot go with pads until the temp drops.

If this would have been like the old days when a couple of administrators are looking at a radar screen I am confident this would have played until the end of regulation Friday night . May be another ten to fiteen minutes to play 4:49.

I had two Army buddies hit by ligthning at this time of the year over 35 years ago at Fort Benning. They never saw it coming, heard some thunder in the distance and a light drizzle had started. One was injured severly and fair to say he has never been the same. I would hate to be the person that made the decision to keep going and that happened to someone especially a player or another young person.
