Nobody else on the team is a true three point threat other than him. Defenses can sag off everyone else and just focus on him as a perimeter threat. It's like our football team, the opposing defenses are only concerned about stopping the run. I was hoping Derek would be a threat but looks like not this year. And Palmquist is a liability in so many other areas.

Hopefully Griffith (shoots as advertised) forces other teams to allow better open looks for Cam next year

bad in 4 of 6 games and Minny is horrific...yeah he might get his shot back against another bad defensive team in Nebby but he needs to do it at wisky at psu (game where he was brutal last time)

I also think his defense hasnt been good either

Cam is a nice depth piece on a quality team. I fear him coming back next year and not leaning on the portal to try and upgrade may continue the trend of us hurting ourselves by keep having senior guards return for another year instead of upgrading.

Griffiths drawing more attention and making things happen on offense will only help Cam

Same if Simpson makes a jump and can penetrate and dish or Davis comes in and can create

The lack of players on our team who can drive, draw the defense, and dish hurts Cam's number of open looks... especially since we don't really run plays and set screens to try to get him shots

IMO RU should employ the triangle offense- with Cam in one corner, Palmquist in the other and Cliff down in blocks. Then let Paul dish or shoot / have Caleb on a short leash to do the same.

How come Nebraska can get Tominaga so many looks but we can't get our shooting guards any?
Because we don’t have a functioning PG. Not Paul, not Caleb and not Simpson. Paul comes closest but he’s closer to being a small forward in skills.

He’s fast as hell and they run double picks for him.
The kid from NEB has much longer range than Spencer, a quicker release, and isn’t afraid of pressure. He also isn’t afraid of driving to the hoop. Spencer has no shot under duress and constantly has been begging for fouls on his shots. Even when he drives it’s in slow motion likes he’s waiting to draw a foul. Just finish strong to the rim.

Seems like every other team we play has one or more olayers against our vaunted defense have breakout 3 point games. Why can we have Cam doing the same. ?
One reason is other teams have fast crisp passing around the perimeter and some run the old time weave and eventually someone gets open enough to shoot or drive to hoop. We over dribble into trouble or do lazy passing or force a pass into a double team .
Today in first half we were getting into the paint and scoring. Then after the subs, we totally loss that approach.

Agree with this. The guards we have now have all hit their ceilings as players except Simpson…(Mulcahy, McConnell, Cam). If we don’t get the best versions of at least two of them every game, we’re screwed.

Because their offense actually consists of 5 guys moving including the 4 guys without the ball.

We try to immediately throw it into Cliff, but if he’s covered our offense defaults to dribbling above the top of the key, with guys standing around, then with the shot clock winding down setting a ball screen for guards that have cement shoes.

Armchair coaches and talent scouts from this board are now literally coming out of the woodwork.
