Good for him and good for this team. With that said. If Hoak is better and isn't a fumble factory then he should play. We need the best players on the field.

Supplementing Johnson with three different players running the Wildcat may be the formula for future success. Pitching the ball to Johnson for a pass worked well, too.

I can admit after the fumble I said to bench him IF Hoak was ready. They are trying to save Hoak's redshirt year, but if he is the better QB now and Johnson can't improve then we have to jerk the shirt now.

Johnson made good throws on that final drive. Give credit where credit is due.

I don't think you're alone with Hoak and I was frustrated and pondering what hoak could do as well. But I think most of us, myself included, have to realize we are fans and not coaches. The coaches see Hoak everyday, and if he was he answer then they'd probably use him, but he's most likely just not ready. We have to trust them here. If we want a solid program, we have to bring guys along through a process. If we can get to a bowl, while red shirting Hoak, it will be far more beneficial to building a program and getting us out of this rut of lacking quarterback depth.

We're back in it guys. We're 2 wins from a bowl and possibly looking at 7 wins even with a loss to southern miss and the loss of our starting qb. I'm proud of these guys tonight.

Johnson needs to tuck the ball when the pocket collapses on him , he continues to hold it with two hand when players are swiping at the ball . Just pull it down and take the sack , he has to cut the fumbles down .

Understandable. Johnson does struggle at times for sure. But he seems to make big plays when we need him too. Hes definitely a winner. No way he should be benched now.

If Austin missed that field goal Johnson would be having a very bad evening. I like the kid but he has got to learn to hold onto the ball. Do not think I have ever seen a QB in my lifetime who fumbles as much as he does. Great win and on to the next one.
If macginnes wouldn't have bounced the first one off the upright he wouldn't have even needed the last one.

Good points. At least the fumbles are an issue that can be fixed.

We better hope Hoak is ready enough to play,Johnson takes some hits and is not the most durable guy in the world but he gives us all he's got I think. The ball takes a while to get where it is going sometimes but by Gawd we won this one Go Cats !!

As a side note Angels Envy tastes even better after a win:cheers2:

Gran had NO business taking the ball out Snell's hands down on the goal line.

Horrible play call for a QB draw when your RB is literally ripping the other team a new ******* on nearly every carry.
Yes that was a bad play call. We could have went up 17.

Thank heavens, an op with a sensible, positive post.

Still think you have to have your QB under center most of the time, even if he is just handing off, which he should have been in the 4th Q, at least make the defense give some thought to the slight possibility you might pass the ball.

Johnson is a fumbling machine!

He MUST stop now!

I can live with his mediocre passing but not the fumbles.

Let's be honest here... We won despite our qb. There we're open wrs all night and he missed many of them. Yes there were a few drops, but several more missed passes on open guys. And the two fumbles. If we had a better qb we would have blown that team out. Msu gave him open throws short that last drive, let's not annoint him and forget the game was close in spite of him, sorry it's true.

First of all, I don't believe Gran called a QB sneak for his 180 lb QB. I do believe Johnson just kept the ball on the RPO. What Gran should say to him is, "Dammit, in the red zone give it to Snell or Boom."

Its easy to say this after a W

Let's be honest. People were calling for him to be benched because he was horrible, especially in that first half.

Up until that fumble he did play better in the second half. But if UK wants to get to a bowl game or better, he's gonna have to play much better and take better care of the ball

You are probably right and he probably said that with a few more explitives thrown for good measure

I'd be working with Snell on some short out routes and make him a multi-dimensional weapon in the Wildcat.

He's clearly a beast, reminiscent in dominance/talent to Randall Cobb.

At that point on the field, Snell should have been the ONLY OPTION - direct snap Wildcat formation which they had no real answer for.

Johnson threw it well in second half he is the qb going forward. Yes the fumbles hurt but he is a first year juco playing in the sec and winning. People want us to throw in a true frosh we have never seen play its almost comical

I did and still believe he cannot get us to a bowl game. We have to go to more wildcat. Give'm credit, he toom the offense down the field. But he has a weak arm, ball security is horrid and isnt accurate from 0 -10 yrds. Looks like his deep ball is better than the short pass.

He does have a weak arm,I think he is better short and mid range his deep ball takes too long to get there.

Not his arm his issues are strictly mechanical. When he uses proper mechanics his arm is just fine. He is a first year juco who this time last year was playing in a nobody juco league
