I didn't want him benched, I just don't want him standing in the pocket and fumbling all the time
546 total yards is pretty good offense. He has some fumbling issues but it's not the first time a new QB starting in the SEC needed to figure stuff like that out. Asking the kid to be Peyton Manning isn't fair and the guy behind him isn't either. If 546 yards of offense isn't good enough for you then you are expecting Peyton Manning.
Yes that was a bad play call. We could have went up 17.
Who asked him to be Peyton Manning?
I know right. At the half so many posts calling for Hoak. We don't know what he can do. We do know he has never taken a college snap. People need to get real, if Johnson and/or Barker stays healthy we will not see HoakJohnson threw for 292 yards and 2 TDs 0 interceptions despite a lot of drops - yet some of our "fans" want him benched in favor of a true freshmen. BTW Fitzgerald MSU had 81 yards 1 TD 1 Pick.
Good for him and good for this team. With that said. If Hoak is better and isn't a fumble factory then he should play. We need the best players on the field.
How would you know if he is a fumble factory or not until he is given the chance, that is a coaching decision.Good for him and good for this team. With that said. If Hoak is better and isn't a fumble factory then he should play. We need the best players on the field.
He is averaging how many fumbles per game ?????How would you know if he is a fumble factory or not until he is given the chance, that is a coaching decision.
Still trying to figure out where you are going with this one.Same idiots who probably didn't think Sam Malone should be playing in 2015 despite having won a national championship in 2012.
Is getting better each game...if he can whip the fumbling bugaboo I don't think DP gets the job back.Johnson threw for 292 yards and 2 TDs 0 interceptions despite a lot of drops - yet some of our "fans" want him benched in favor of a true freshmen. BTW Fitzgerald MSU had 81 yards 1 TD 1 Pick.
He also had two td passes that were not caughtAnt BTW he had two fumbles and 0 INts.
4-1 after those games. Some people focus on the tree instead of the forest.I never asked him to be Peyton Manning, 8 fumbles in 5 games is all :chairshot:

He's not a great QB by any means, but he's serviceable. He played much better in the second half but he's got to limit the fumbles.
And 2 fumbles. He played just fine, but he does this every game. It almost killed us this time. We were literally 4 yards from icing the game, and he gives up a 95 yard fumble return. It can't keep happening.

Yep, all in on Smitty.I was sick about his inaccuracy at the half, and later livid with the fumble scoop 6, but I give up. The kid is a competitor, even if inconsistent, and I am just going live and die with him the rest of the way. Other than the fumble (yes, huge) he was lights out the 2nd half.
Johnson needs to tuck the ball when the pocket collapses on him , he continues to hold it with two hand when players are swiping at the ball . Just pull it down and take the sack , he has to cut the fumbles down .
I wasn't referring to his run fumble , he has several fumbles in the pocket this year . He fumbles in general and the run you speak of is another example of how he doesn't keep the ball close to his body . He's not strong , so he needs better technique to compensate for that .The fumble against MSU though wasn't a sack situation, it was a read option play and he pulled the ball then followed Snell through the hole and got stood up and stripped. I believe Johnson's fumble problem has to do with his overall strength in general, he is not a big guy and just not very strong, that's just my two cents.

He also isn't an SEC caliber QB.Is he perfect? No.
But he is 4-1.
