Can't remember this much excitement about UK football & basketball in same yr.

Football team is 5-3 and 4-2 in SEC and is on a 3 gm SEC win streak and has a very winnable gm at home v Georgia Sat.

The basketball team is preseason #2 in the AP poll and many believe will deliever #9.
Can you imagine UK winning the East in football and winning the national title in basketball in the same season?

My goodness its a great time to be a UK fan and a native Kentuckian!

Can anyone else think of a comparable time?

I thought of 1977 but wasn't that UK football team ineligible for a bowl game.

This could be an historic time for the big two sports at Kentucky!

October 12, 2014. Football was 5-1, and we had a basketball team that was about to start pummeling ranked opponents by 20-30 points.

Sadly, it didn't end quite so happily.

They were indeed ineligible but that 1977 team kicked ***. Easily the best UK FB of my 51 year lifetime. Of course, the BB team would also kick some *** the following spring.
