my rhs eagles travel 10 miles north too battle the cb-aycock falcons this coming friday night. conference looks too very competitive and i see lakewood and north duplin too battle for #1 with union high in that mix. rest of conference(rosewood,princeton,hobton ) could shake things up for the top 3. looking forward too a great season and good luck too all cc teams.

It's gonna be a slow night for football in our conference tonight, so I will give my thoughts on the team's so far.
North Duplin- 3 impressive wins. Run the veer offense and if you don't play it everyday can be very difficult to stop! Very well coached team that plays hard night in and night out.
Lakewood- 3 wins in impressive fashion. Run the gun. There quality of opponents haven't been very good, but 3 shutouts and maybe only 4 or 5 first downs gained on them this year
Princeton- 2 wins....1 over 2a midway and 1 over 3a SSS. 1 loss to a good 2a Farmville central. They seem to be building on that stellar running game they had last year.
Rosewood - 2 wins....huge win over 2a n.johnston and 2A spring creek. Only loss to 3a cb aycock. Rosewood runs the spread offense and are very well coached.
Union - 1 win over s. Rob and currently have an 8-7 lead over Pender in the 2nd quarter of a postponed game. 1 loss to 2a midway. They run the pistol offense and have had a very good defense in the past few years.
Hobbton - 0 wins. They are just a team that has gone through a cycle. They just don't seem to have the numbers or the talent. They play very hard and are coached well but just seem to be going through those growing pains.
I think it's a wide open race for the conference this year. I think rosewood has the best win so far over N.J. North Duplin a close 2nd with the win over Pinetown

Union then goes on to play Jones Sr Friday night. I see them winning both to get back to 3-2
North Duplin/Southside it's the game of the week folks. I think the two front runners for small 1a in the east. I expect a slobber knocker but I think N.Duplin edges them
Lakewood/North Lenoir can Lakewood keep the scoreless streak Going? I expect it to come to an end this week. North averages 35 pts per game but I don't see them putting that up against lakewood.
Rosewood/South Lenoir I expect rosewood to bounce back from a tough loss to pender
Princeton/wake Christian I really like a team that is committed to the run, and princeton coaches know how to run the ball

Lakewood is definitely one team to keep a eye on those 4 shutouts in a row is very impressive watched them in preseason amd thought that defense was very stout.....i know they haven't really been tested yet but early on i can see them taking on Tarboro and Holmes for a chance to rep the 1AA east
It's early darkhorse#34. Their defense has been spectacular so far this year, but as most would say they haven't played anybody yet. I don't know anything about north lenoir other than their schedule and points per game but from what I am hearing they have a strong running game. I hope that works to our advantage. A last second loss to bunn would make them 3-1. If they come out with a convincing win this week I will say they may be a legit contender
Union won big vs Jones Sr 64-0, heard Lakewood lost 41-40 vs N. Lenoir, and Princeton also won , score?? at this point it's anyone's ballgame, but hope my Rebels continue their streak, they are a great bunch of guys, well coached too.
Just got home from north lenoir and it was one of the most exciting games I have seen in a long time. Lakewood started dominating from the get go,but as the game went on north lenoir hung in there. 1st game where Lakewood had to play an entire game and you could tell. 2nd quarter and 4th quarter they couldn't keep players on the field. (Cramping) held a 14 point lead most of game but just couldn't finish. North lenoir had a beast that ran 2 kickoffs back for t.d. and had another receiving. Hats off to them they earned it. 2 point conversion for Lakewood to win it at the end failed.

wake christian 30 - rosewood 0.. wake played a complete game and though my eagles played hard, they had no answer for the bulldogs. rosewood is off next week and open conference play at home vs hobbton high. also princeton high 47-n johnston 40 in the johnston county showdown.
Conference play starts this week and things are lining up for an exciting final stretch of the season.

Lakewood brings in their 5-1 record vs North Duplins 6-0 record. North Duplin handed Lakewood their only conference loss last year beating them 13-6 on homecoming. These two teams shared a conference championship last season along with Princeton. Both teams are probably fielding the best teams they have had in a long time. The winner puts themselves in position for another conference championship and 1st round bye. Should be a huge crowd in calypso friday.

Princeton looks for another conference championship as well. They boast a powerful running game and Union looks to play spoiler in conference play. Injuries and the turnover bug has plagued Union all season. They have some good looking players, let's see if they can get it rolling during conference play

Rosewood is just 2 years removed from a share of their own conference championship. Looks they can also play the role of spoiler, capable of beating any team in the conference on any given night. Hobbton still struggling and as conference play starts it will not get any easier.

rosewood 41-hobbton 7.. my eagles played well but face a huge! test next week against a very good lakewood high team. hobbton high played hard and i salute the fan base that traveled too cheer the wildcats on. rosewood will have too play-perfect ball too have any chance next week at lakewood high. game time is 7.00pm.
Hello everyone this is my first post ever. I have followed ncpreps for the past 11 years or so. I have been to numerous games. I am a Rebel thru and thru but I will give credit where credit is due. Lakewood is the real deal. Their defense is legit. Their running back #45 Is a straight beast. The difference in last night's game came down to the last minute and prolly one of the best catches I have seen in my whole life. I believe the conference in general is as good as it has been in a very long time.
Rebelpride that was an awesome catch that kid made. Lakewood had all the momentum and on 3rd and about 20 the kid brings down a diving catch airborne landing on his belly with the ball just hanging on his fingertips. Their is know doubt in my mind if north Duplin stays healthy they will represent the east in small 1a.
