Got to laugh at fans saying Miles is a poor choice. Kentucky would be lucky to have anyone that isn't a coordinator or from a bottom tier program. The last coaches Kentucky has had has been Stoops, Joker, old Brooks that no one wanted, Guy Morris and a guy who got on probation.

Now tell me how the hell any of those guys are better than Miles or even were as good as Miles at any point in their careers?

Haven't had a winning conference record in 40 years and you turn your nose up at a coach who has won a national title and been to multiple BCS bowls.

I hope we don't hire him if Stoops is gone. Couldn't do it at LSU with all that talent. How in the world would he do it here? We need a HR hire. Considering Stoops ain't going anywhere, I'd settle for hiring John Chavis as our DC if Sumlin is let go.

Please explain how he hasn't done anything but choke and under-achieve with the top knotch talent he has for the last 5 years. How come his offense has been pathetic? Why did he keep the same OC when he barely kept his job? Why does he continue to mismanage the clock game after game? Do you even watch their games?

We have a 4 page thread and many fans are arguing against Les Miles, if we were lucky enough to get him. This says all we need to know about some of our football fans. This is hilarious to anyone who actually KNOWS football.

We should give him a blank check and get him to retain Gran. I will say it again, he would be the best coach we've had since the Bear. And those who don't want him are nuts. He aint Curry, he has always been better. He aint passed his prime. The dude won at least 8 games a year in the SEC west, I dont care how good his recruiting classes are, SEC west!! And look at what he did at OK st, he can build a program too.

Its fun to dream and these killjoys wont even let the smart fans dream.

And we should've kept Joker. He took us to a bowl didn't he? it ain't about knowing football, it's having enough judgement to know the difference in a winner and a loser. Les ain't a winner if he can't get it done at LSU.

Still didn't answer the questions. Bet you'd rather have Les than Petrino if both were available wouldn't you?

I don't get the Curry comparisons. Les won a national title and coached in another. Played under one the best coaches of all time. KNows how to develop the trenches. He's a great leader and interview and loves to coach. LSU fans even say he's a great recruiter.
Cant speak for everyone else, but im not comparing him to curry....just saying at Uk, he might be similar to curry, as in big name coach that had sucess elsewhere but is on the downside of his career and couldnt bring the same level of sucesss to uk.

never knew curry went to 2 NC games and won 1. interesting.
Agreed. We can certainly do worse. Miles did pretty good before he went to LSU so it's not just with LSU talent. Which by the way is over rated the last few years anyway.

Funny his record proves he is a winner. But why let facts get in the way of your stellar opinion right??

Excuse me, you keep say 'get it done'. Get WHAT done??? His WORSE season was to win EIGHT games!! Yet all you Stoopids are praying for a 6-7 season! And THAT would be the high mark of Stoops career! Are you crazy people?? The chance to play for the National Championship once every eight years versus judging a 'winning' program by a trip to the Music City Bowl against another 6-6 team??? Smack yourselves.

Some on here also think we're in any position to be snoody about a coach. Just a bunch of idiots.

The best Kentucky has done in what? Almost 40 years? Is go to the Outback Bowl, not have a season with less than four losses? We haven't even had a winning conference record in 40 years. Florida has beat us 30 years in a row. Tennessee has beat us just as bad (we did get one terrible win) and now we get to be picky about a guy who consistently had LSU in contention in the conference and even won a title.

I don't know who the right coach would be for the job to make UK into a competitive team but in my opinion,
we need a coach who understands how to work with what hes got and put the right players in position to make plays. A coach that looks at his roster and game plans to the players talents instead of a coach that has a system and try's to force kids to play that way.

I find it hard to believe if we hire a proven coach who got fired from a big time program because he was underperforming with great talent. that he could come here and win in a tough conference with average players.

And I'm not saying that LM isn't a great coach I just don't think he could get it Done here.

He's probably too mean to be a head coach at UK, so Barnhart will pass on him.

Some of you arguing about just how impressive his record is must not have heard. He was fired.

You are right. He was fired, but it was not as though he was fired for vastly underperforming. He was still winning an average of over 9 games a year. He went to the national championship just 5 years ago where he lost to an Alabama team that they beat earlier in the year, and who were extremely lucky to even be in the game. Had a team like OK State been picked to go to that title game instead of Alabama then Miles might have 2 championships.

Yes, I can admit that Miles doesn't run the best offense and that he might not have done as well as he should with the talent he has had. Yes, he has not lived up to the standards of LSU. However, he could very well come to UK and at the very least boost our team to a level that helps us continue in the right direction.

Every coach will have red flags and question marks surrounding him and whether he will be successful here. Miles has a good track record and that's at least a positive sign that he could very well be pretty successful here.

Ed Orgeron just out coached Les. But please keep telling me how lucky we'd be to get Les Miles. And how long would Nick last at Bama or LSU with the same performance?

Brohm or Brown. We need a young offensive coach that can put points on the board. The list should begin and end with those two especially since they'd be more likely to stay long term assuming they have success here.
Do your homework.....What wins championships? DEFENSE! Why do you think Bama held us to 6?? And Bama is defending what.....? Very good. yes champions! And our defense is what.....? Very good, yes improving immensely!

I dont have a "hard time" seeing Stoops come back, we got several pumpers who will accept him back with a 3rd consecutive 5 win season. And we know that if 10% of BBN still backs him, Barnhardt will point to that as reason to keep him. 5 wins or not, its so sad the little self respect UK football fans have.

Back on topic, I like the idea of Les Miles here.
Come back Stoops, come back Stoops...

If I were MB and I knew i was not going to get rid of CMS but needed to do something to help the program and placate the fan base, I would see if Les is interested in being a top paid coordinator for a year or two.

He could be an offensive line coach and chief recruiter in charge of the south east pipe lines.

Everybody wins.

Mitch saves some face without having to fire anyone. CMS upgrades his staff and keeps his job. Les gets to lay low and not have HC expectations for a bit, but still gets to be in the SEC and if UK does relatively well he gets a little credit.

Then the Vandy gig opens up Les gets it, and he proceeds to build that program into a stable competitor in the east and he steam rolls kentucky in the process, sending the lair into an all time meltdown.

Why do we think failed coaches at Big Time schools are the answer???
Because the non failed coaches are still employed and unavailable? Did I miss something, was the USA attacked with a dumb bomb and I didn't hear about it?

So Miles brought in big time recruits and won a lot of games....even a championship. He sometimes won the same amount of games in one season that it takes us three seasons to win. Everyone against him being here is an idiot.

In correct. We of course know that. Most coaches get fired at somepoint. John Calapari did. That doesn't necessarily mean they can't coach. Miles was successful before he went to LSU. He was successful at LSU. The last few years were below LSU's standards but we would build a statue for him if he did that here. Miles was far more successful that Brooks ever was and it's not even close.

Again I'm not saying he's the best replacement but acting like a coach that wins 9 games per year even with LSU's players can't work here is silly.

Wow. Our fans actually believe our football program is too good for Miles? We would be lucky to have Miles at Kentucky. It would be known as the best hire in all of college football. I keep reading about the man not winning at Lsu. He won a lot at Lsu, he just didn't win enough games for Lsu fans. If we can ever get to 7 or 8 wins a year i'm happy. People keep saying Miles can't win at Kentucky. If that's true, we might as well just forget about football cause if Miles can't do it, no coach can and why do we keep wasting so much of our time thinking we can? Let's hope Miles doesn't browse internet sport's forums. What a joke. A loser program like Kentucky with a fan base that thinks we're too good for a future hall of fame coach like Miles.

Les as head coach, Gran as OC, Charlie Strong as DC, replace line coach with someone that actually develops players. Then we might actually have a chance to compete for SEC titles.

I would think Miles would be the obvious choice. The guy eats grass so he'd fit right in with the Secretariat/checkerboard theme. IMO
