I wouldn't call it defending them. I would say we are giving them massive props because massive props are due. We are probably not going to make it to a bowl and they are one of the best teams in the country. Until we can get back on their level, there is no sense in getting into a pissing contest with them.

How about us getting to a 50/50 level, that would be giant for this staff.

UL did not choke. It would be called choking if they did not come back from being down 18 at halftime and got their *** handed to them. Instead they came back from that deficit against the # 5 team in the country on the road and had a chance to win it with around .40 seconds to go. Quick could have made a better effort of at least getting to the first down marker. Oh well..still glad they lost..

I often think "choking" is when you have something in sight or in the hand and lose. Blow a lead or should win, have it in hand, and collapse. If UL had never come back, I don't think I would have characterized that as choking. (A discussion in sports semantics)

I agree that would be a logical first step but be careful, many posters have been lambasted on this very message board for suggesting that we should get 6 or 7 wins this year. Even though we have been really bad for the last 50 years and we are coming out of one of the worst periods of the program's history, there are plenty of people who think we should be competing with Bama for the SEC title in year four of the rebuild. I agree that we should be better than we are this year but I am not unrealistic like those guys.

The bottom line is that UofL is really good this year, they are in a good conference, they have a good coach and they are competing with and sometimes beating top 10 teams. We can pretend none of this is true and continue to ridicule their program even though it is way ahead of ours or we can acknowledge their success and use it as an example of what can be done in this state. We can use their success as a target and also as a mandate for this administration and this coaching staff to get us there or get the hell out.

Not Done...diminished yes...done no...need help from the Pac 12 and Oklahoma...regardless all we can do now is win out...best case if outside forces happens #4 Team in the CFP....worst case heading to the Orange Bowl likely against Tennessee-(see either Ole Miss or aTm headed to the Sugar Bowl).
