Congratulations to Coach Mack. I’m sure he regrets some of the things that happened during his Louisville tenure.

The one and only interaction I had with Mack was not good.

He was pretty arrogant.

Maybe it was bad day. But you only get one chance to make a first impression.
It's the little things in life that can cause the biggest problems. CCM is not that outgoing and IMO out of his comfort zone while at Louisville. That comes from a family friend who is involved in athlete charities and promotions. Her comment was 'Too much west side of Cincy in his DNA." Perfect fit at Xavier and should never have left.

This is where an AD and SID need to step in and insulate the HC from making mistakes like what happened here. Mack thought he was doing the right thing, when in fact he could not have been more misdirected. Having a President with one foot out the door only insured his departure.

He’s a good coach, he was just not a good fit here. He’ll win games but not be a true final four threat with his style of play.

I've said many times on here that Mack got the shaft here. I think he was a good coach and could've done really well under different circumstances. Coming in behind Pitino was bad enough but add in covid and a President trying to make a name for herself and an AD that wasnt experienced enough to help him and an assistant stabbing him in the back and blackmailing him. Good Luck to Mack !!

Mack’s a very good coach, but by his own admission he wasn’t a good fit here. He said he really didn’t appreciate on how visible the HC was until he experienced it himself. I wish he and his family the best.

Agree. I think he could have grown into it, but the dark cloud really got to him. I was ready to anoint the man as King when his Cards blew Duke out and he has the Cards ranked #1 in the nation. All the behind the scenes chaos added to that, and it all did him in by the end. He was kind to settle on his contract, something Payne refused to do after his disaster.

Think about that for a minute: Mack had Louisville ranked #1.

As a Charleston resident. We’re happy to have him. And as a Louisville export, I’m happy that Coach Kelsey is in Louisville.
Another South Carolina Card! I'm Brandeis School of Law class of 1988. I resettled in Columbia in 1992.

There aren't very many of us in SC. In Columbia, there's me, my family, Jane (B.A. of 1986), her family, Jude (M.E. class of 1990), her family and Quincey Riley's family.

Since Cardinals flock together my sons, Jane's sons and Quincey all attended the same middle school where Jude was their math teacher. My youngest son and Quincey shared WR/CB duties on the Hand Middle School football team while my older son and Quincey played on the Hand Middle School basketball team. They're all good friends so I credit my sons' Cardinal love with Quincey's decision to transfer to U of L.

One of my besties Dave Schaff (J.B. Speed School of Engineering class of 1988) lives in Chuck Town. He and I attended the 1986 Final Four together in Dallas with 2 other friends. After our 2013 tourney victory over Duke, he drove from Charleston to Durham solely to take a picture of himself throwing Ls in front of Cameron Indoor Arena. lol. If you don't know Dave already, friend him on FB. Friend me, too. I'm Rose Manos.

We SC Cards were all at the 2013 Final Four in Atlanta with our kids and spouses. We drove back home in the wee hours after the Natty so the kids and Jude wouldn't miss a 2nd day of school. Our kids showed up for school that day in their bootleg Natty shirts with faces still painted red and black from the Fan Fest.

My older son Kaden lives in Charleston and has C of C season tix so I was very familiar with PK and their team last season. We were over the moon when U of L landed PK and quickly decided which players he should bring to U of L. PK landed everyone on our list.

If you see a tall skinny blond 24 year old kid out and about in Charleston wearing Cardwear, that's my boy. Throw him an L.

None of my brood had the grades or athletic ability for U of L scholarships. Since out of state tuition is killer, they matriculated from USC.

Mack had an impossible job replacing Pitino during a time of chaos in our university. He had to that and be the coach during COVID. It was never going to work.

Also, the portal and NIL weren’t really as big a thing until he was out the door. A lot of pressure and it just wasn’t the right time.

But his 2nd year he had us back. Honestly, his recruiting wasn’t terrible either. That last year he knew he was leaving, pushed to make staff changes and work for a President that basically didn’t want him.

He’ll get another decent job and he’ll do great I believe.

It was an impossible situation for pretty much anyone except Rick Pitino, and we couldn't hire him b/c we just fired him. LOL.

I think everyone learned something from that era.

Ironic, to me anyway, that it took UofL the longest to begin recovery.

Technically he didn't have to replace Pitino, he only had to prove he was better than David Padgett....
