throw a good coordinator into a HC position in the SEC and hope he succeeds unless you are Boone (Orgeron), Templeton (Crooms), Moore (Mike Shula), South Caroline (Brad Scott), Jeremy Foley (Ron Zook), etc. Granted it has worked (Fulmer, Richt, Mullen ????) but the way the football is driven today by revenue and fan support you can't afford to HOPE they can be a HC and miss, you gotta go w/ somebody that has been there to some degree Hud, Freeze, Dooley (he @ least had HC experience we'll see if he sinks or swims next year.) There are exceptions on both sides to this argument.

There have been plenty of failed coaches in the SEC with head coaching experience. Just a few: Kiffen &Dooley at UT, Dinardo & Hallman at LSU, Nutt at UM. The jury is still out but Freeze doesn't look like an impressive hire at all. I could go on. Also, add Tubberville to your list of successes. He was a coordinator when UM hired him and he saved that program.
