Auburn ATE OUR LUNCH with the jet sweep. Plain and simple. Last year, we blitzed hard and often and penetrate on the edges (even though they really didn't need the sweep last year, we got after Newton the whole first half). Defensively, you take the sweep away by good penetration by your ends and contain. We didn't do any of that, instead, we played back and were scared to get beat deep. Same thing against Arkansas. We rushed 3 and 4 much of the game, but worst of all, we let Wilson get comfortable early by not blitzing once the first drive. Big mistake defensively on our part. We played some very good games, but I think we could have done some things to be more aggressive and take away those elements (AU sweep and Tyler Wilson) to have a chance to win the game. <div>
</div><div>Even though we were playing NOT to get beat on those first drives, both at Auburn and Arkansas, we ended up giving up HUGE chunks of yardage at a time trying NOT to get beat deep. We needed to make our presence known defensively and keep some momentum on our side of the field. We didn't do that and in both games, and insteadwe gave up scores on our first two drives in both games. Poor strategy by our defensive staff. </div>
