Or the 3rd, and most likely option, of someone in the Athletic Department getting a gameday itinerary (which based on experience is likely 50+ pages covering every detail of everything that happens from Friday afternoon until Saturday night), didn't call out this specific event to the cheer coach, and the cheer team was doing their cheer and waving their flags with no idea what was happening behind them as they do during every other break in the action.

I wasn't there so don't know the specifics...and many that have issues with it seem to despise PSU so it's getting traction in this thread, but I've heard nothing of this anywhere else.
You weren’t there! Yet you are sure about what happened. Sound reasoning.
And who would have guessed a Pedd state fan lecturing another fan base about what they witnessed.
Typical Pedd State make excuses and deny!!!!

And I'll repeat what I said to @Shelby65 earlier, as the whole irrational sports fandom thing can be so bizarre...

I just find the hatred of other teams/players/fans, the hypocrisy and ability to rationalize anything your team does while assuming the worst in the other “side”, etc. Then again, I feel the same about those really into politics.

Envy, betrayal, irrational thoughts…you name it. My recent example…James Franklin poached Vandy’s coaches and recruits when he came to PSU and it was all good. He does it now and he’s scum. Sports fans/rivalries bring out the worst in some.

I mean obviously no one is intentionally trying to disrespect an Eric Legrand tribute…unfortunate that it happened.

So you explain yourself to the other irrational person in the post. Whatever the gibberish you posted above regarding Franklin doesn’t correlate to what happened this weekend or how your fans and alumni act in every stadium you attend. You are hated not because of the wins and losses. Rather you are hated because you’re mostly a bunch of cultish douche bags.

actually, you and shelby are currently disrespecting eric- so stfu

to think and act like this should be no big deal to us- you are not only disrespecting this very inspirational man but disrespecting just decent humanity.
Even if you didn't know the tradition- now that it is pointed out, instead of just saying "oh man, I don't think they even realized it at the time but that is something that should not have happened" you all are just saying -"no big deal, it's irrelevant, move on"

That is just messed up dude...

I know that if PSU had a gameday tribute to all of the abused young boys that your school allowed to be raped by your coach and coverup for decades- we would not allow our team mascot or cheer team to disrespect that. And if they did, we would be apologizing to your school- the handful of PSU fans that admit Joe knew and these boys that were harmed so severely. We would not be telling you that we didn't know that was a tribute to that horrific occurrence that happened at PSU and telling your 5 fans that care, to just move on.

As you know, you and I have had some good ole arguments over the years- but one thing both of us can agree with- there is no doubt what team we are hardcore fans of...And he is even going to try to disparage Mrs. Screw - that is one that he is not going to win with anyone that is a fan.

And what I said on the last time around- even if they did not do it on purpose, they also should have realized the moment, and by chance they still screwed it up- just apologize for it. I see that someone also just mentioned that they did a We R chant while our players were down- that is also a horrific look. And if the cheer team or their leader or any f-ing PSU person of authority didn't put a stop to it- again - they f-ed up big time and should issue an apology.

Even fans of the very worst teams know to STFU when any player is on the ground- regardless of whos team it is.

And contrast that to the RU game at Louisville a year or two after the EL injury when a Louisville player was seriously injured and was on the field. The ENTIRE RU team went a few steps onto the field and took a knee. The Louisville AD put and ad in the SL thanking them.

Keep telling yourself that...it makes perfect sense and it's very reasonable. Only a loser would think that PSU's cheer coach doesn't have it out for Eric LeGrand.
And you never thought Sandusky was able to take young guys into the shower! You folks have never done anything wrong in your minds. Terrible existence you people live!

It would probably be good for there to be some communication in advance between RU and the visiting school to assure that the visiting school knows that there will be a tribute and when it will be. Older fans will recall that Penn State QB Adam Taliaferro (later a graduate of the Rutgers-Camden law school) was paralyzed on a hit, and so PSU ought to be able to understand our desire to remember what happened to Eric.
Let's see. PSU has NEVER played a game AT Rutgers since we started this like what a decade ago?

And I'd say it's disrespectful to use Eric's tribute to push this hatred of another school. Eric's story should be something to inspire and unite, not something to divide. Instead, we're getting a fresh round of hate, Sandusky references, and all those other things that bring out the worse in fans.

I wonder if, when they play at Iowa, they do the same at the end of the 1st qtr when the wave to the kids with cancer at the nearby medical center happens.

From what I've read he's the least of the worst. Let's not be like them people. Hopefully 1 of these years we'll field a team and start kicking some *** and put them in their spot but this poster seems hardly the poster child (nun pun intended) for your typical PSU scum.

Have you ever seen one of them? The one while PJ was at PSU was 50 pages. It covers well beyond 3 hours...it will go through the entire home and visiting team itineiaries, would have everything around the Boardwalk that you guys do, cover what vendor is coming in with the postgame meal, etc, etc. They are incredible detailed, and cover every movement of the home team, away team, staff, police, EMS, etc from Friday morning until postgame Saturday.

Today, it wouldn't happen because everyone knows about the wave. I never knew about the LeGrand tribute until this thread (and I'd guess that's true for most at PSU)...hopefully that changes and it gets more widespread attention nationally moving forward. Eric's story deserves it.

Keep digging deeper. The Eric tribute is highlighted every single televised game. You haven’t heard of the tribute? Yet you decided to weigh in and take the opposite side of normalcy. Great job!

OK so- you are saying that a very detailed document was sent to PSU outlining everything that woud be happening at the Rutgers game. Including tributes that your team has been here before for the same tribute.
But PSU decided they didn't care enough to review it.

Really stop and think about your words before saying them. Because, you are making are argument for us. The PSU staff just doesn't care.

Haha. So your telling everyone how stupid you are??!! Nutcase! The football team doesn't need 50 pages. The band doesn't need 50 pages. Security doesn't need 50 pages. Each area doesn't get all 50 pages, just what they need. Beyond football, the DJ/music and transportation nobody else is getting a few pages! Yes I've seen them. Again you're a defender of PSU who makes crap up. Rutgers fans are too smart for your complete nonsense!

I'm telling you how it actually works (or at least how it worked when PJ was at PSU, although don't think he was actually the one producing the final document)...there is a 50+ page Production Notes document that would be sent out each week to everyone internally, and the visiting team's contact. It's full of information like hotel, arrival, day before walkthrough schedule, athletic department contacts, etc. It covers all of those things that I mentioned before. As part of that document, it runs through all of the stuff that's happening during pregame, and during each timeout. No one is memorizing everything in it...it's a reference, that from a visiting team perspective would mostly be used for contact info, verifying timing, etc. The LeGrand tribute would likely look something like this as one of those things mentioned...

legrand.png

Anyways, I'll move along, since no one is going to change their mind on any of this so not worth our time.

Wow 50 pages? That's not even a paragraph! And that's for the entire 3rd quarter. Apparently You aren't good at math either.
Tell us all, do you believe Joe didn't know??

And as you said above. The entire document may be 50 pages. But the portion of the document shared with visiting teams spirit teams coaches is probably 2 pages. And can be summarized by don’t be an asshat and run onto the field during the q3-q4 break.
But seriously it’s drawn down to where you enter the stadium, where you stand, team entrance, and what you are allowed to and not allowed to do.

I’d normally suggest you are highly intelligent Erial, but the position you and I take is so obvious it shouldn’t be worthy of the attribution. Here, as you can see the collective IQ is so far left on the scale that Bernie Sanders is an extreme right winger in comparison.

But your recognition and explanation of fandom destroying sensibility and integrity is very keen and enlightening, so the above credit is the truth.

This place is a sad collection of dense and blind cultists no different than fans donning other colors.

Stick around long enough, nah, just one day is long enough, and you’ll see some of the most bizarre anti-RU conspiracies/victimization complaints imaginable. It’s a psychosis. It really is.

And as I pointed out above, a few years after EL suffered his injury, a Louisville player was seriously injured in a RU - Louisville game played there. The entire RU team walked a few steps onto the field and took a knee while he was being treated. A much more analogous situation.
