Shelby vs Bye: no one wanted that smoke with Shelby, no schools in the Charlotte Metro, no one in the Piedmont area, no one in South Carolina. As soon as they heard the word “Shelby”, they all hung the phone up.

In all seriousness, it ridiculous, period, to have two open dates in a season, the players don’t like it, nor does the fans. Someone dropped the ball on this one, I don’t care how they spin it. That’s an L!

Crest vs Burns: good energy among the Bulldog posters after defeating Asheville, but you will face a different animal in Crest this week. The Charger D has the potential to be great, I see them shutting down the Bulldog offense, creating turnovers.

I really think a big key to the Burns/Crest game is how the Burns kids respond to a big win.. Does it make them a little over confident or does it make them hungrier

Lions should have scheduled Reidsville.

That said ya'll not gonna beat Crest, Burns, and KM in the same year. One or two of them will get ya'll.

I agree with scheduling Reidsville, but they appear to me not to be big risk takers, protecting that record and given home field advantage in the playoffs. They had no business scheduling 1A schools, in my opinion. You can say what you want to about Shelby, but you will never see us playing down a level. Reidsville will blow East Surry out, Mt. Airy is weak. I will bet a powerful 2A team over a 1A power anytime. There will be nothing impressive about those wins, in my opinion.

I heard that we reached out to Vance. They initially reached to us, but we sat on it, then when we decided that we’d take it, it was too late. If you notice, they are playing Huss this week, so there may be some validity to that hearsay.

Shelby vs Vance would have been an awesome game this week. Both teams are loaded and have brand new coaches.

Trust me, I’m sure there would have been schools in Charlotte lining up to play us, other schools, period. I’m obviously a Shelby guy, but you’d never hear me say that bs about us not being able to find anyone to play us, or the bigger classifications are worried about their record and eventual seeding in the playoffs. These two open dates are inexcusable.

I heard bigger schools in SC like Gaffney and Spartanburg won't play anymore 2A schools period. Had to do with a point system. I think this was before their realignment. Don't know if it's the same now.

I really don't mind the East Surry game. But, the schedule should have been, Dudley East Forsyth, or Page. Eastern Guilford who is already on the schedule, East Surry already on the schedule and whatever else best opponent available was. I'm not sure what they tried to do though.

Coach Ware was lining up Vance for week 3...Shelbys Administration waited a month or so before announcing a coach. Then Wibanks was set as coach. He then began to try...Vance had filled tge spot. We tryed Mountain Heritage and few other schooks nobody would...there were talks with Al Brown.. But it didnt get anywhere...not sure but think it was over where played at.
Coach Wilbanks will make sure were filled from here on out.

Al brown had talks but not sure what happened..i heard it was over were it be played...
And weak? Whens Crest going sch. Somebody wprth playing.

They only played in the early part of the decade...I believe 2011 and 2012. The game at Shelby was played on a Thursday night due to the American Legion World Series. Believe Brown won both. I remember it was a total blowout at Shelby...like 44-0. But it would be much more competitive this time.

I agree, these 2a schools we keep beating is getting old.

Believe Shelby had 11 game schedule until Burns moved down to 2A. Burns was game 3 and Mount Pleasant game 6. Too much time between Lance leaving and Mike being named new coach.

not true, Gaffney has a difficult time finding teams to play, have tried to schedule Crest plenty of times over the years but Crest doesnt want that. Shelby Athletically would be fun to watch come to the reservation.

as far as CC goes this week, Huge game for Lawndale but the youth in the secondary may cause fits for them in this one. Hopefully Burns creates a few turnovers and can win it.

Shelby just has to keep kids outa trouble this week due to boredom

You can't say it's not true when this was the case before realignment. As stated before I wasn't sure the point system was still in place and someone posted it was no longer in place.

Shelby has a great group of kids..every school has one or 2 that stays in trouble...ITS AT Alll Schools....

Crest 27 Burns 7. Going out on a big limb that Crest defense will remain stout in hold Burns to 7.

KM 42 Roberson 7. No contest after the first half scare last week will have the KM boys ready to go this week.

I agree with you. My initial prediction was 28-7. Just hoping this weather holds off, and this game is played.

Reidsville vs. Shelby in regular season would be great, but logistically it's a tough do for a regular season game....156 miles, 1 way....Golden Lions have same problem we have...finding some one ( like a bigger school ) that will play us.....Over the years we have been dropped by Greensboro Grimsley, NW Guilford, RJ Reynolds, Western Alamance, Northern Guilford, Roxboro Person (N. Guilford, W. Ala. and Person are 3A schools)...NW and Grimsley and RJR 4A...these are just a few in the least 8 or 9 years.....Eastern Guilford (a real good program) has finally come back on board this year.

I could live with whatever result, as long as those Shelby boys give a good account of themselves. You never know, though, there may be a time that we could catch one of the big boys slipping, taking us too lightly. Depth always come into play when playing powerhouses in higher divisions, though. There were times that we had Gaffney against the ropes, only to run out of gas in the end. Also, size is a factor, too.

Reidsville and Shelby should play at Simeon Stadium in High Point one year. It would bring people from all over.

touches a nerve obviously. Yes every school in america has that issue, but I heard it straight from coaches mouth's and Ive see it daily, their biggest issue is keeping kids in class. so your problem isnt w me.
