Personally I like Northside, but Clinton is going to get The Big Mac, Large Coke, Large Fries, and an Apple Pie.

Clinton 3-1(0-0) Northside-Jax 2-3(0-0)

Head to head all time Northside leads series 10-6

2018 matchup Clinton 24 Northside-Jax 7

Clinton travels to Jacksonville to take on old ECC nemesis 3A Northside-Jax. These two have had some classic matchups thru out the mid 2000's and in the last couple years. Both teams coming into the game after suffering a defeat. Clinton fell to Central Cabarrus 19-8 and Northside lost to Southern Nash 45-22. Wouldnt let the record fool you the Monarchs loses have come to 3 talented teams New Hanover,Wallace, and Southern Nash they will be motivated and looking to right the ship also looking for some revenge since Clinton beat them last year. They feature UNC commit Jaqurious Conley who is a outstanding athlete. He is the teams leading receiver and rusher so tells ya where our defensive focus will be. Junior RB McIntyre #23 has carried the ball well also. I expect the typical Minarch squad lots of athletes good speed and size. Clinton hasnt won a game at Northside since the 2006 Eastern title game came close in 2010 and 2017 but just couldnt finish the deal so would love to see a win Friday night....For Clinton basically limit the penalties take care of the ball and we are a totally different team defense is going to make stops like they did Friday offense just had to take care of the ball and sustain drives. My prediction Clinton turns it around this week and grind out a 28-21 victory
Clinton played themselves into a loss last week, so hopefully they can right the ship against Northside. For the Dark Horses, contain Conley and make his teammates try to pick up the slack. End our non-conference play on a positive note.

Quit getting penalized for needless penalties and like I heard Dabo Sweeney say at halftime yesterday keep the ball on the ground and BE PATIENT. Our defense is playing well enough to win

If they will keep it simple. They have the athletes to go along ways. They are making it to complicated on offense. Just keep it simple. That will eliminate a lot of the penalties

I like the fact we are attempting to be more balanced we will need that as we get deeper into the season and hopefully we make teams pay for putting 8-10 guys in the box

You're right, you need the balance especially for November.
The lack of balance in the past is why the horses couldn't get over the hump in the recent playoffs. You have to keep developing that.

Big game for Clinton. Only ECC team playing this week. A big win from Clinton would send a statement to WRH and be a good way for Clinton to close out non conference

Why would it be a statement? Everyone know how strong Clinton is. Lose to Northside and it could be a statement you don’t want. I don’t see Clinton losing this game.

It would be a statement if Clinton beats NS something like 42-14 or something like the Southern Nash score. If Clinton completely dismantles NS I think you would have to call that a statement.

Nothing new here. Everyone around here knows it's Clinton, Northeastern,WRH in the east. Clinton ,WRH in the ECC. I think NS-Jax could be a little down right now. Not the season they expected. They only have Conley also. Conley is one of the best players in the State.

Jet sweep right Jet sweep left. Dive right Dive left. Those four plays that we run will work. If we can get the plays off without too many people moving at the same time. That’s what we got to fix.

OLine has to block better to run any play successfully. Was so disappointed in the other night. Biggest line maybe in school history and blocked like smallest.

That will not win against a good defense that shares the same uniform with a balanced offense. A good defense will shut down a one dimensional team 99% of the time....and really fast.

You got that right also 04; let’s hope this team gets it right. If they don’t quit getting penalized it’s going to be a short season. Just the fact!

I just wonder if all this creativity isn’t confusing our players and the refs because we sure do get a ton of penalties. I don’t care what formations we run as long as we can get the plays off without penalties

I think Clintons staff has a done a great job with mixing up looks/formations. Keeps teams having to prepare for multiple plays however, we have to be able to execute. If we miss a block or don’t gain many yards, so be it. But if you can’t even start the play for false starts, that hurts any team. Playing behind the chains.

So i guess we should line up in one single tight formation and run straight up the middle against 10 and 11 stacked boxes all night yeah thats going work......like DH04 said mixing up keeps defense on their toes just have to execute
It's worked for Clinton,WRH,SWO,Tarboro. Clinton going to change the game. Secret practices! Don't tell anyone.

I agree with PackHorses, the multiple formations don't matter if they can't stay disciplined enough to avoid pre-snap penalties. Also, the QB needs to have the wherewithal to throw the ball away. Once we can establish the run, the play action will be there....Football 101. When Central's coach saw that our Defense was getting tired, he put Boykins in at RB and he gashed us.

34, you should know, you were on the team; do you know how many times the 05 championship team opened it up and threw the ball?? Yes right, you could count on both hands probably for the regular season. It was Nick Cooper & Earl Kemp running that ball. That was the last great/large offensive line we had. It was about execution. Everyone knew he was getting the ball, they could point out the block, but they could execute. They were smart, they made very few mistakes. The team also had a great defense. This team could be very similar.

we also had a once in 10 year type of RB in 230 pound Nick Cooper who could carry the ball 25-30 times a game....guess what happened in 2014 and 2016 has been forgotten...run into a team that can stop the run and match you athlete for athlete wish you did have a consistent passing game or even a different formation to run out of that loosens up the box........look what Cummings did to us in 2006 running out of a spread formation simple inside zone play....Shelby in 2014 running inside zones and read options Reid #5 gashing us.....never sad go away from the run completely but some type of balance would be nice and it seems like that's what they(coaches) trying to establish......even last year if Wallace sticks with hitting that TE#15 going across the seam they beat us.....but hey lets not try nothing different lets wing t,wishbone, single wing, and T formation it to death and hope we break thru those 10 man boxes
I agree,it's nice to be able to throw the ball. Can't argue the fact that one thing has been consistant in WRH's success. We always going to RUN the ball. Sometimes you can loose from being one dimensional. If you can run the ball at our level, you win most of the time.

Just keeping some of the posters fired up. We are fine. Just got to stay set get the ball snapped no penalties and block. We are loaded with athletes. I don’t think Coach Johnson gives a damn about what we are saying up here. He’s not looking to us for any coaching advice

I will go one step farthur. WRH had 503 yards of total offense being one dimensional against the best team they have played in years in Wake Forest. Its nice to have both the run and the pass but its not nessesary to win a championship.

Northside Jax is going to put the ball Conley's hand. He can take care of things. When WRH focused on him, the dogs slowed him down. If the Darkhorses takes of any plays, Conley will burn you. The Monarchs defense is tough also. They tackle well, moves from side to side well. Darkhorses should go right at em, make Conley work on defense.

Sounds like to me the same issues you guys were boo hooing last season. False start penalties and such. I remember posts blaming officials for all the penalties during the East Duplin game (or home cooking or something like that) and then again during the playoff loss. Seems might be a pattern. Maybe it is a discipline problem? Disciplined, well coached football teams rarely beat themselves yet this seems to be a common theme for you guys. I sense dissention in the ranks again. On one side the tradition based fans who want two tight ends, three backs, belly right, belly left, double dive and the other want to run fun and gun and chunk it to "have some balance". On one side flashy unis from Under Armor and the other side plain black from the local sporting good store. One side wants this twitter page, the other wants the "official" twitter page. Keep em coming boys!

Im glad they go back and forth like this. Its like when you have a family gathering and you tolerate Uncle Leo because you sorta have to. Its great, I mean come on, what other fan base bickers over every single thing? "I want numbers on the helmet....I want a horseshoe....I want natural grass....No, I want turf.....I want to watch practice....I helped build the stadium" On and on....its the gift that keeps on giving.
