I don't think the buyout is necessary to the extension. You can leave the buyout alone and still give him an extension. No he has all ready had enough extensions and big buyout!!
Does everyone realize that his current deal runs out in 2019? If we don't give him an extension we might as well stop recruiting. Coaches always need at least 4 years on their contract to sell to recruits that they will be their coach for the next 4 years.
Is he due a contract extension for how well the team has responded.

He doesn't have a buyout, he has a guaranteed contract. Everything being the same, if you give him an extension you increase his buyout...I don't think the buyout is necessary to the extension. You can leave the buyout alone and still give him an extension.
Frankly, I would say yes. It sends a strong signal to the coaching staff and to recruits. However, let's concentrate on finishing up the schedule first and worry about contract issues in December.
I can see him leaving for a bigger and better job...He will be in demand...Is he due a contract extension for how well the team has responded.
If he did after NEXT season, how would you feel about promoting Gran to HC? Fans have been wishing for a HC with an offensive background for a long time.I can see him leaving for a bigger and better job...He will be in demand...
This makes sense to me. Annual extension out to 4 yrs under contract seems acceptable, though I think the buyout amount/structure should be examined if that is intended.I can see adding a year. So if we add a year this year, that gives him to 2020. Then if we go to another bowl next year, add a year. I see no problem with that plan.
Perhaps you're right, but I don't think guys worry much about 4 years out. Thru only '18? Perhaps.Does everyone realize that his current deal runs out in 2019? The other schools recruiting against UK would make sure to point that out.Perhaps you're right, but I don't think guys worry much about 4 years out. Thru only '18? Perhaps.

Yeah, after he starts beating teams with a winning record. He's on no one's radar.I can see him leaving for a bigger and better job...He will be in demand...
