Top Tier and 2nd Tier got some strange picks...even ppl that have retried for medical reasons and you'd want them to be head coaches at USC? how long would they even last. CEO is not tier 1 in any reality. Only in a alternative universe would Sean Payton leave the NFL. Stoops isn't coming back and I don't trust him, Bret Bilema is a hell no, given, how he handled Arkansas. No more trojan retreads with Rio, so no thanks. Mario ain't coming.

Nor would it be smart to rehire someone USC fired in Justin Wilcox. I'm glad the fanbase isn't choosing our next head coach. lol

Surprised I didn't see Dick Vermiel, Bill Cowher, Kliff Kingsbury, Tom Coughlin, among others on your list. Wow! Exhaustive and mostly irrelevant choices but thanks!

Thanks. That’s an exhaustive list you’ve compiled, but I can’t agree with some you’ve excluded based on assumptions you’ve made that I don’t subscribe to .

I think I’m done reading these.

Everyone has an opinion (which is fine), but the vast majority are just guessing or pulling at straws. No one out here knows what’s going on in there (HH.)

I think I’ll just relax, enjoy the games and cheer our team on, wishing them all the best.

Fight On. Beat Wazzu!

Don’t forget all the Donte Williams thread. Even though he hasn’t coached a game yet.

I would be interested in hearing about Lincoln Riley’s thoughts of moving to the SEC. he goes from a conference he dominated and a clear path to the playoffs into Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU….. schedule. He is a hell of a OC recruits well from Cali and Texas he just would need to bring a DC with him. At USC the Pac 12 schedule with him would be a clear path to playoffs without the SEC schedule….

Cristobal isn’t happening. If anything he will probably use the fact that he was our #1 choice and said no as a recruiting advantage.

Luke Fickell is top tier yet Franklin isn’t?
My concern with Franklin is that he has had 7 years at a traditional football power and has one Big Ten title to show for it. No CFP appearances. He is a very good coach, no question about it. But he appears to have hit his ceiling and I just don’t see him winning an NC.

I can’t say for sure that Fickell would be better, but I don’t think we’ve seen his ceiling yet.

Penn State is not a traditional power. That would be Ohio State who just happen to play in their division.

R Bush picking Neon Deion for SC. Bringing PrimeTime to Hollywood might not be terrible. But, another no experience wannabe is a bridge too far.

I disagree. They are not a “blueblood” or football royalty like Ohio St., but they are they are mainly a football school led for many years by the second winningest college HC of all time, plays in a Power 5 conference, was consistently ranked before Franklin ever got there, draws top recruits (though Franklin himself is indeed a good recruiter), and has won NC’s.

Not an easy lift when you have Urban Meyer at Ohio State.
