I think Bentley is a nice prospect but your post is just not rational. Bentley is not an elite prospect and he does not play an elite position. UK goes 3 deep at guard with players just as good if not better than bentley.

We're a struggling program trying to build in a state with limited major D1 prospects on an annual basis (although that seems to be improving). You have a high level 3 star kid in this state, you have to offer him; especially if hes OL.

True, the position is crowded and the jury is still out on Bentley. But this is a long play. The talent pool for OL in state seem to be growing. Belfry seems to be getting some major prospects. And UK traditionally struggles to find quality OL from any state.

Offer him. Be honest with him. If he wants a chance to come compete, you take him. If he can beat someone out, then great. If not, then it means the program is on its way.

Theres really no downside to offering him.

Is there any interest from his home state of West Virginia? If West Virginia wants him so do I.

Please read my post and tell me again that we are 3 deep OG when Bentley actually arrives. Most of the players at his position are JRs this season, which means they will be graduate during his RS FR year. That is hardly enough depth to keep from recruiting an OG.

Have you ever seen him play? Horton is a damn good football player

No, I haven't seen him other than film. Never said he wasn't a good player. Right now he's a little undersized for a SEC DL. Doesn't mean he will be after a RS year or after another couple of years. I hope he's great and has a successful career wherever he ends up.

I've seen him play and he impressed me both times that I watched him. I know you didn't say that he wasn't a good player. I have seen a lot of people say that about him being undersized.

It is when you have guards playing tackle. Wolfe stenberg gaa Jackson stallings fortner will all still be here when he arrives. We don't have any senior guards this year. Meyers is a Jr I believe. In a small class he just is not a priority. We need tackles and Wills is a top prospect who may end up at guard. So if you take Bentley and Wills does not workout at tackle you just signed 1 tackle in dotson. We cannot do that.

Tough of the top of my head, but Jason Leger comes to mind and there was a kid from Etown that they made into an olineman...Forrest was a WR when he came here...Ramsey played QB here and won two super bowl rings playing TE...pretty sure Jeff Van Note did it as well..sure there are several others, but those come to the front for me...my whole premise is that you can never have to many big uglies on the team especially if they are talented and just look at the number that left in the last year alone.

Yes, as I said, d-line frequently get moved to OLine. In fact, some coaches, like Howard Schnellenberger recruited DLinemen to move to the offensive side. AND, of course, skill players move to other positions. But, it is extremely rare for a HS OLineman to move to defense. Just is. Done.

I don't disagree with most of what you said. My point is even with a small class, I think you could take Wills (OG/OT), Dotson (OG), Thayer Munford (OT), and Bentley (OG), and NOT take a single ILB or DB only b/c it takes longer to develop linemen.
