If he re commits back to us then I find this okay. I don't blame the kid for not wanting to set out a year. By going JUCO he will at least be able to get game time action. I really really hope he comes back!

Only way I see that he could have three years of eligibility is if he redshirts at the JC. Now why a JC would give a scholarship to a player who was going to be redshirted and then leave, is beyond me.

Rowland said that a "source" confirmed that he would still have 3 years of eligibility if he goes to JUCO? How is this possible if he played for Michigan (1 year) and a JUCO (1 year)?
He probably meant that he will have three years to play two.

That would make more sense.

Here's the last line of the article the OP linked to the thread: "Kentucky is a school Cole continues to consider."

Perhaps this maneuver is a way for Cole to keep his options open. I could very well be wrong, but I can't imagine Stoops and staff encouraging him to go this route. Just another loose end to keep track of.

I would transfer, sit, and play three years in the SEC.

Going Juco suggests he wants to be recruited. Or, that Stoops took a pass.

Cole qualifies to apply for a medical RS for his freshman year at Michigan. I think that's why he's telling people that he would have 3 to play 3. I also worry that we are going to have to re-recruit him but we are very connected at East Mississippi CC. I'm sure the staff told him that he should go there if he wants to play this year

I think what Rowland left unsaid was he was hurt the first game of the year last year then missed the whole year but would regain that year. Still looks like he'd have 2 to play 2 when he gets here.

Question JR fails to answer is...Did UK place him at ECMM? That would be significant if so.

To me it really does not matter if UK sent him there or not. I really am not concerned one way or the other. I know he is a good player but if he decides to go elsewhere then I am okay with that. After we have a successful 2016 season we will be able to recruit a replacement of equal or better value. I am much more bent out of shape from the de-commitment of Hudson because he plays a real position of need. One that is much harder to fill than that played by Cole. I really do not view this as losing Cole, and I am not going to stress over it.

I'm sure he's just keeping his options open and probbaly wants to see what the offense looks like this year before making a choice.

Huh?? Cole was a Top 65 recruit coming out of high school. He would be the highest rated prospect to sign with Stoops so far. He would be a significant loss.

Stoops has already signed Young.

Couldn't he transfer to UK after one year and have three to play three with the injured year?

Yes I somehow forgot about Young. And yes he can transfer to UK after the one year but that seems unlikely because it seems like he wants to be re-recruited.

WR and defensive back are our two positions of strength is my point. He wasn't able to play this year anyway if he did come. Although the extra year in our system and the weight training he would get here versus a CC would in theory be much better for him.

could be a combination of wanting to play next year and take another year to get comfortable in academics too before coming in

I was also thinking that maybe he wanted to play the position he will be playing at UK to get a little more comfortable playing DB again

Good news is Cole made this decision quickly. He is a significant loss, but at least our staff's investment in him was minimal at this point. Hudson is another big loss. Recruiting is all about inviting lots of good players and then taking those who want to play for your program. For every player who says yes, our coaches have to hear the word no 10 times. It's just the nature of recruiting. Getting Richardson and Ajian makes the loss of Cole a lot easier to take.

Not sure if it means anything or not but Richardson is our first 5.9 receiver this century, or since they started the star system.

I think it turned out to be significant in Boom's case.

LOL! A little too sensitive there, sport?

Well you got a smart *** answer for a dumbass remark. Don't make em and you won't get one in return. You could of just not said anything at all, well that's what normal people would have done if the remark was not directed towards anyone.
