So all these major conferences want to have games on the same night that the players they recruit are playing on. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The players won't be able to visit and see the schools playing on those nights and the staffs from those schools won't be able to watch the recruits play either when they play on Fridays. Plus you take potential viewers away from the high school games if the local college is playing at the same time.

Yeah I never really understand why they have games on a Friday. I know it's for more money but it defeats the purpose of viewership

Eh, I dunno. To me, more good football on Thursday and Friday nights is great. It's one thing when a school like UL has constantly played on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but it's another when a big-time school has an occasional Friday night game. I'm all for it.

Louisville and TCU hasn't played on a Tuesday since 2003...C-USA but that cool...it help build us to where we are today...a consensus Top 10 team and help build the Horn Frogs into a upper level NYD Six Bowl Big XII program.

It about $$$....the B1G is poised to make in the coming years around $50 Million per school.

The SEC doesn't need to with all the TV time slots it has. I don't know if this is 100% accurate still or not on the order. Found it on another site.

1. CBS (3:30)
2. ESPN (7:00)
3. SEC Network (7:00)
4. ESPN2 (6:00)
5. SEC Network (3:30)
6. SEC Network 12:00)
7. ESPNU and overflow if necessary

I believe there was a couple weeks with 2 games on CBS. So every game is covered and Friday should always be for high school for our conference.

Every single post you make includes some sort of chest beating (today we are a consensus top 10 team, we go to orange bowls and sugar bowls, blah blah blah). I could ask you about the election and you'd find a way to tell me that UL is an annual top 25 team that goes to BCS bowls.

I never said that UL played on Tuesday night all the time, I said that UL consistently plays on days other than Saturday (and they continue to do so). Only the MAC teams currently play on Tuesday but UL was always willing to sell out to get on TV.

Only because you put us in this for some reason....the OP was basically about the expansion for College Football viewing into Friday....and for me how would you guys feel if the SEC followed suit

I like it. You have to compete with every other conference, star program, star coach, star player on Saturday.

Been a big fan of non traditional scheduling, and wish UK would look into it. Especially in the OOC, those are 3 games a year where UK isn't getting significant exposure, but if you move the game to a slow week day, maybe you can get a little bit better air time. Maybe a Tuesday game here, Friday game there. Always thought unconventional moves are what program like UK needs to make to expand their brand.

Ballsy move for the big 10, one that could pay off extremely well. That conference is impressing me more and more. They've made plays for great coaches, definitely the deepest roster in terms of coaching talent from top to bottom, and now they are making a move to separate from crowd so they can stand out on their own.

What else is on tv friday nights? nothing of note. You can get a prime time slot with games on a weeknight.

Think about it. Michigan football when nothing else is on the tv. Harbaugh is prime time on saturday going up against every program, conference, and coach. Now he's got his own stage that isn't crowded and can perform solo. Same goes for Buckeyes.

This is a pathetic move and I hope the SEC never becomes involved in this! !

Thanks gojvc! This made me laugh. Go Cats!!
I'm thinking about taking my son to that game. I need to make some arrangements though due to work and other things. 12 days is already short notice and 6 is really short. Hopefully it can work out. Either way, go Cats!

Not a fan of the Friday night games. Really stupid. It assures the school of not having any official visits from recruits and makes it tough for fans to get to the game. That said, I believe Michigan said they wouldn't play on Friday, Penn State put some restrictions on it, and Nebraska is only playing 2 Friday night games over the next 6 years. So mostly you'll get Rutgers, Maryland, etc.

Still dosen't make it any less pathetic and against something that should be scared...Friday night HS football. My guess is in the end the $$$$$ will win out, i just hope the sec schools never becomes involved. But , to be honest ,the SEC is probably the only conference that dosen't need it. Hopefully they will hold the line...SEC..SEC..SEC!

Don't think they really had a choice...the NFL going into Thursday IMO was a TV viewership game changer
Really...I'm a cfb guy that almost never watches the NFL and I sure won't watch college fb on a Friday night...do watch almost all the thur night games unless it's just one I'm totally not interested in.

I put them in there "For some reason" b/c UL is probably the poster child for playing on weeknights. Do you disagree with that?

I wouldn't mind SEC football on Friday nights. The SEC is the most exciting conference in the country, it would only help the brand.

In the old C-USA it was Louisville and TCU so that correct.

Eventually I do see the SEC following suit...follow the $$$

I think you'll see a lot more of this in the future. Only reason NFL doesn't play Friday/Saturday regular season games is so as to not jeopardize its antitrust exemption.

As long as that's the case, Friday and Saturday is where college football can rule the screen.

Won't more college football games on friday night hurt the college football recruiting game? Many avenues to follow with thinking.

I wish for a pox on colleges who play on Friday. I might catch the last quarter of a game after I come in from the high school game I just attended, but there's no way in Hell I'm staying home to watch. Hope to Hell the SEC never follows this route.

Were talking about two schools on a Friday night right? So out of the thousands of high schools there will be what a couple dozen that are touched attendance wise? This is all much ado about nothing IMO. I knew years ago when college games started popping up on weeknights it was only a matter of time before it was every weeknight. America clamors for sports especially football and they will watch it until their eyes fall out.

The smaller schools were out in front on this issue years ago and it paid off for a few of them so you knew it was only a matter of time before the big conferences got involved. Remember its money. Its NEVER enough when youre talking about money. The SEC will follow suit in due time. Many said the SEC would never play on a Thursday but it happened. The SEC will play on a Friday at some point going forward as well. Money, money, money folks.

Tradition has a price and the conference musical chairs has shown us that anything can happen as long as someone ponies up enough $$$.

Very well said...earlier this Century the ACC, BIG EAST-(Virginia Tech) & C-USA-(Louisville/TCU) was the experiment and it worked. It also been good for the MAC with their Tuesday Night MACtion. Now in 2017 you will have 3 of the P5 now playing on Friday Night.

For the schools not named Michigan, Ohio St or Penn St. it is a win as they are not fighting for TV time on a Saturday on ESPN The Ocho.
UK fans give UofL fans hell because of all the weekday games we played but the reality is those games got us on TV in front of recruits and helped us get better recruits. While we all didn't like those games midweek there is no denying that those games helped build UofL up.
