Maybe a future UK coach down the road ?

I remember everyone thinking he had a bright future as a coach when he was helping out here, i think playing was cut short by injury.

There was another GA at that time that was highly thought of, not a player I believe that left to get more experience, anyone remember hun or were he is?

The injury the stuck out the most about Parker was running into a lift during practice and breaking a leg in the Nutter field house.

The other grad assistant was donte Wright. He is also from lawrence county. He is now the special teams coordinator/defensive assistant at Tennessee tech. He was at morehead a couple years ago Donte is still young (probably 31-32) and played safety at Miami of Ohio

Interesting note. Lawrence county could be considered coach U. For a small town, they have produced a lot of coaches in high levels. Phillip Ratliff started the trend and was at Marshall and Charlotte before passing away while on staff last year. Gerad at Purdue, donte working his way up, and Jason micheal was the offensive cordinator for the titans last year.

Here is a very neat read about it

Some here were pimping Parker for UK's open WR job when Mainord left. Not sure he was considered, Stoops hired Lamar Thomas.

Kind of like being handed the wheel of the Titanic, really. I rather suspect they asked for volunteers and all the older assistants stepped backward one step. OK, I am at least 1/2 in jest.

I was wondering why they did not promote one of the Coordinators and went to a position coach. I am glad for him and I hope he does well, but it just seemed odd that they did not replace him with a coordinator for the Interim.

That's the one, thanks for the rundown. I just knew Wright didn't play for UK, glad he listed UK ahead of his alma mater. That is an amazing list for a small place.

Good experience for Parker for the future regardless of how it turns out I would like to think they passed on the coordinators because they really liked him.

A really neat story.
