CPL impact on districts not that great

Looking at current enrollments from the IHSA website there are only 4 schools that would be 8A: Lane, Taft, Curie, Simeon. Give the geography of those schools would likely be pretty easy to not have a district with more than one or possibly two CPL schools.

Similarly, 7A has just four as well - Lincoln Park, Whitney Young, Kelly, and Hubbard. Again, easy to keep them mostly separated.

With the exception of Simeon, almost all of those schools would be demolished by almost all of the CCL or ESCC schools. Just my opinion!

But look at 4A...Soucie's analysis had 16 CPL teams in 4A, a quarter of the class...Two districts of 8 all CPL teams will cause a likely riot outside of Cook County when 7 of the 8 qualifiers get blown out in the first round of the playoffs. But how do you break them down? Travel will become quite an issue if the IHSA tries to break the CPL teams apart too much. Likewise, I can see downstate programs complaining that if they create 4 districts, with 4 CPL and 4 non-CPL teams in them, that the non-CPL teams in those districts basically got "byes" into the playoffs. Put 2 CPL teams in each district - travel be darned - and the CPL will likely go up in arms that they aren't being given a fair opportunity to make the playoffs.

Just wait until they have to play a 4:15 game at Gatley on a Thursday!

Totally agree that the CPL will really mess up the lower middle divisions. Only hope would be that its not that much different/worse than the current setup. CPL went 1-4 in the first round of 4A this year. If you can split up the 16 CPL into three districts the number that qualify for the playoffs may not be much higher than the 5 from this year.
