Was looking at their standings and washington and washington st are tied for first in the north division. Teams with more recent success like Oregon, Stanford etc taking a back seat this season.
In the south division Utah and Colorado are both 3-1 which is best in the south. Teams like USC and UCLA are behind them.
Will be interesting to see if both the washington teams end up with the best records in pac 12.

How frustrating it must be to be a WSU fan and see your team tied with Washington at the top of the Pac and know that your losses should have been wins. People rave about Leach, and I am a fan, but he tends to lose games he should never lose. That destroys having a true dream year. I think Washington beats them, but if they beat Washington, WSU fans will have to ask the "what if."

Washington State won 9 games last year. That is a dream year here. You will lose a few that you think you shouldn't when you are at one if not the worst P-5 schools in the nation. Poor facilities and horrible location will hinder recruiting.

The difference between Leach and some others is that sometimes he can out scheme the other coach and win a few against ranked opponents.. When you can do that losses like ours to Southern Miss. can still end up with 8 or 9 win seasons. If Stoops can pull an upset against UT or Georgia he can end up with a nice season. Got to win a few that you don't expect to at programs like Wash. St. and UK.

The magical year is you win all the ones that you should and then pull a few upsets.

Leach takes chances that other coaches will not take.

So he wins games that he shouldn't.....and he loses games that he shouldn't.

Double edged sword.......but he's fun to watch

They're both 3-0 in conference play. If Wash St wins head to head, they'll have a chance the win the Pac 12 championship outright. They still control their own destiny as far as winning the Pac 12.

I have watched a lot of their games this year-------he considers a fourth and one a great opportunity to throw a pass------and they complete about 75% of them overall.

They control their destiny in the PAC, but they could be in the playoff discussion had they not stumbled out of the gate.

should have won his opener no doubt, but you can't argue the huge adjustments made since. getting it done on both sides of the LOS.

Pac 12 is the most up for grabs conference. There is no consistent power structure and pecking order in terms of alpha dogs dominating for long periods of time.

I think the talent out there is more fluid in their brand loyalty compared to Big 10, SEC, and ACC regions. Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, OSU, and FSU, etc can have down periods but they will still stock their rosters with more talent than UK, Wake Forest, Purdue, IU, BC and Vandy could ever hope to have in great times.

Pac 12 has become a very finesse/offensive oriented conference. Meaning you don't have to go build a program that is strong in all 3 phases of the game from top to bottom. If you have an O than can win a shootout you don't have to worry too much about D, ST. Leach doesn't have to worry about the fact that USC, UCLA, Stanford, all probably have better athletes overall and bigger better linemen, because his offense is a well oiled machine.

It's a very good conference for coaches because you can go to any program and become competitive in short order. Kelly, Harbaugh, Leach, Petersen. All "system" guys whose programs have distinct identities. All take over programs that were not traditionally competitive and turn them into players in the conference at least, if not nationally as well. Look at Kyle Whittingham, been at Utah for a while but relatively new to the Pac 12 and is establishing the Utes as a strong competitive program in the conference.

Sounds like those teams are in another country. Can't identify with them at all.
