Leach's defense would be struggling in the SEC (if he didn't get the right players and DC)

About all this tells is that Petrino, Leach, and Macintyre doesn't play SEC schedule.

We know Petrino can win in the SEC though.

And what that list tells me is we had some solid options on the table, although I do not think Leach or Petrino were legit options though. Colorado guy has done a good job there as that program was pretty awful.

Bringing WSU and Colorado to respectability is about the equivalent of bringing UK to relevancy.

Jones really has left a lot to be desired at this point. UT at this point should be planning their Atlanta arrangements and not worrying about whether or not they'll beat UK.

Dykes may be in trouble, but I don't know if Cal is extremely concerned about athletics on the same level as other universities in their conference or in general.

Petrino is in a class by himself.

You also only compared this year's record. Seems to be apples vs. oranges.

Having said that, Stoops has made some definite strides this year. Gran/Hinshaw are a big upgrade over Dawson. Stoops calling D is a big upgrade over Elliot. Better clock management (although still work to do). Better personnel management. Better halftime adjustments. Some real improvement and it shows on the field.

I know some people think only SEC teams play tough schedules but this week's Sagarin SOS ratings are:

UofL: #52
WSU: #34
CO: #25
CA: #27

UK is #51

Peace
SEC is third best conference this year. Big 10 and ACC are better this year IMO.

I am sorry you can not make me believe the ACC is better, You only have 4 teams worth a hoot.

I would say SEC West, ACC Atlantic are the top 2 divisions in any conference....SEC East is really weak this year by past comparisons. Who cares about the Big 10?!

The stretch we just come through might be the easiest four games we will ever have in this conference. With that being said kudos to the team and staff for getting through it 4-0. No other team in the last six years would of not screwed up and lost one of them. Hopefully Stoops has turned it in the right direction.

I will agree Petrino is in a class by himself. Now, please tell me what kind of class would that be?

The class that can win whenever, wherever, however, with whomever, and in short order from the time he takes over.

Louisville, Arkansas, WKU...program and conference doesn't matter, he'll find a way to light up the score board and get it done.

Are you seriously saying playing in the SEC east is a daunting task? Its the weakest P5 division this year.
Yes Dawg, I was serious, however I was referring to the SEC Conference, not just the East Division or this year only.

This always comes up when commenting on prospective coaches that Kentucky should have hired. If they have not coached in SEC you can't use their records at other schools to compare and be very accurate. SEC has been toughest conference in nation the last several years

But you are correct in saying the East Division is down a bit this year. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But he is still morally bankrupt (or has been a lot during much of his head coaching career. I know somebody at WKU who told me that he had body guards there who would keep women away from him and that he hadn't changed. Besides, he would be a big headache for MB and Sandy Bell with the kind of marginal student/citizen/person he would want to recruit. I wouldn't like the fact that he would make a habit of recruiting players dismissed from other programs for disciplinary reasons! He has the right kind of AD to work for. I think Jurich is a win at all cost AD who would turn his head the other way if one of Petrino's players got into trouble (especially one of his better players, i.e. James Quick) and the worst part about that is that the players know it.

He will be a liar wherever he goes. Just ask Arthur Blank. I had rather lose then have a Scum Bag like Petrino. We have one of those running for President, riding a broom stick. I don't think you should mention class in the same sentence as Pitno, or Petrino. I really believe that Coach Stoops has the ship righted, and a program that we can be proud of. Don't get me wrong, I want to WIN, especially after not seeing many winners in my 77 years, but I don't want UK to sacrifice their morals to win. I want to continue to be proud of UK and their coaches. I guess I'm from the "OLD SCHOOL", but I'm sure I'm not the only one on here.

Don't see Art Briles on that list...
The OP was referring to coaches that UK fans were talking about as potential options after Joker got canned; at least that's how I interpreted the post.

One positive side effect of the Cats win streak is the steep reduction in the number of threads about a poster's favorite coaching candidate to replace Stoops.

If I'm reading the polls correctly, all three conferences have 5 teams in the top25. Hard to tell which conference is better until the bowl games and see which top teams beat which top teams. ACC is top heavy with UL and Clemson. SEC is probably top heavy as well with Bama. Big10 has a bunch of teams that could end up at the top. Let's wait and see.

I was interested in Leach, Dykes and Petrino plus Stoops. I didn't want MacIntyre and definitely didn't want Jones. I have not be impressed with Jones period. He has recruited well at Tennessee - but almost anybody could recruit at Tennessee with its facilities, tradition and money. Tennessee should be more like Alabama and less like Kentucky. I said then and I still say Stoops was a much better choice here than Jones would have been.

That is bad news for UL. People want to act like they play a tough schedule, while ragging on UK's and the SEC E. I doubt a playoff bid will be extended to a team that plays the #52 schedule. I did not realize it was that bad.

lmao. I drink heavily on Saturdays and Sundays. Havent hung out with the Doobie Brothers in a bit but I wouldnt be opposed. Big 10 is definitely the best conference this year. ACC to me is top to bottoms better than thr SEC because the East is just so terrible

SEC only has two...really just one contender. Everyone else is nothing special. SEC is always top heavy and then just mediocrity outside of a couple of teams.
