I am beginning to wonder that if Jedrick Wills comes to Kentucky he may not get a lot of immediate playing time! Food for thought. We have 9 of the top 10 OL coming back, I can't imagine benching any of them no matter how much talent Wills has. But I would still love to have him in Blue and not that ugly Crimson .

We're loaded on the O-line right now that's for sure, but I still think we could use a little help at tackle, and Wills is a special talent that could help us next year IMO.

I don't deny that he would be a fantastic and important addition to our class but to me the most IMMEDIATE effect would be on the perception basis his commitment would generate. All I am saying is that he would not start immediately . Maybe before the end of his freshman season he would, but I don't see it as guaranteed. I don't see him moving past Landon Young at LT.

It's not whether he could start next year, it is how good he will be in years 2 & 3. The development of our OLine should intrigue him. Schlarman is doing an awesome job.
That is a fair statement, I am assuming that the majority of the fans expect him to come in and start. Maybe Wills would be moved to guard as many people have suggested would be his best position . My fear is he is already set on Alabama , but even if he goes elsewhere, we will be okay.

Wills could play rt or guard in college. Next year nobody is beating out mosier at lt. I could see wills being redshirted meadows has been solid and big george is starting to look like an nfl caliber RT

Who at the beginning of the year would have thought that UK could consider redshirting Wills if he commited

Not coming to U.K. Time for us to move on.

Agreed. And Alabama has a starting true freshman on their offensive line right now. In just 2015, they brought in five 4* and one 5* lineman. So if talented enough, he could come in and start right away if he's better than who's out there now.

Want to wager he doesn't go to Bama?

They want him at OG. It's why his "commitment" to them never went public.
I don't know where he goes, but if it is Alabama, he'll play wherever they see fit and if he don't like it then he'll have a good seat at the game... I long for the day when UK can call the shots like that.

Wills would split time with Meadows at RT next year and then be a starter in 2018 when meadows graduates.

Stallings will slide to Center next year along with Drake Jackson, and Big George AA will play more at his natural position, right guard (meadows will also be a senior next year).

Of course we need Wills but the OL is going to be really good regardless.

To be fair though the line was absolutely horrible the past 3 years. I'm glad its improved, but the criticism was indeed warrented at one point.

The Schlarman criticisms were ignorant. Fans seemed to have no problem recognizing the lack of talent at skill positions that Joker left behind, but not the lack on the OLine. You cannot get it done with newby linemen and a patchwork of talent. Personally, I think Schlarman did the best with what he had. Now, he has built a deep line around the most talented player Joker left behind who had years left to give.

I think it quite possible they have enough talent for two separate O-lines next year. Perhaps one that is a run blocking type, and the other a pass blocking type.

Schlarman has to know what he's doing given his effectiveness playing OG at UK with at tiny as he is. Yes, OL's were smaller in his days, but he was still little.

I love the job Schlarman has done and the way he is rotating that line. Schlarman and the OL deserve a lot of recognition for the job they have done this year. The Bulldog DL is in for a long evening. Go Cats!!

Word on the street, and by street I mean coming from HS kids, he is leaning hard towards Michigan.

Jedrick needs a RS year as most do. His talent is there but he needs some time in the college S&C program.

Jedrick Wills would be an awesome get. Especially because we now have the luxury of redshirting a player of his caliber. I think Elam's development was stunted by playing him his freshman year. Instead of hitting the weight room he got right into the game and developed bad habits that he hasn't been able to kick.

Wills will be redshirted at any of the big boy programs like Bama, Michigan, or Notre Dame. Usually UK can win some of these battles with in state kids by offering immediate playing time. And maybe Wills can beat out someone for a spot on the line. But he's better served by trading his worst year (freshman) for his best year (5th year senior).

I think we've certainly given him some food for thought about staying home. I would much prefer we redshirt him. The OL is stout enough that unless by some miracle he is miles ahead of some upperclassman, we can be afforded the luxury of giving him a year ylto get acclimated. I still expect he's picking Bama, but would love to be wrong.
