You would always want your tibia nailed, not plated, if at all possible. Plates are for intra-articular fractures of the tibia at the ankle or knee. I nail every tibia I possibly can. Better mechanical stability and less soft tissue damage.<div>
</div><div>And from experience of working on pro athletes, they will usually throw out all the stops including using BMP soaked sponges around the fracture to stimulate healing.</div>

"condom selling" has been with extremity cases or Neuro/Max-face guys...plates, screws, heat-compression staples, DBX products

having now seen the injury video, he is more likely to have sustained a tibia plateau fracture like sean peyton sustained. If that is the case, I would plate it. given he is an NFL player I would add BMP, but still wouldn't let him return to weight bearing for 6 weeks which would put him out of the playoff picture. In that case I would keep him off of it for 12 weeks total.<div>
</div><div>And I definitely wouldn't let peyton manning return to contact football until next summer.</div>

I can't find it.<div>
</div><div>Also, don't you think Peyton should call it finished? Fusing the vertebral body (especially in the neck) is pretty serious...especially when you make your money from bashing the **** out of each other. Don't you think?</div>

Can't seem to find the video now. <div>
</div><div>As for Manning, I wouldn't necessarily hang it up because if they are solidly fused then they are very stable, however he would be at higher risk for adjacent segment deterioration (but that is true with any fusion). </div>

That is why I would think that Manning would call it a day. Once a patient is fused, they can count on a new one just about every 10 years or so (particularly with the lumbar fusions due to the lumbar spine carrying more weight than the cervical spine).

I'm curious to see him comeback myself- and the Colts have no choice but to draft Luck

Then they must be planning to blow up Lucas Oil Stadium after the Super Bowl and move the franchise to Memphis, TN.
