Yeah he came in and stood straight up a few times. Not trying to hate on the guy as he is from my hometown but Pringle is a much much better option.

There may well be "other factors" but the defense got better as his PT diminished. He has had every possible opportunity to prove himself.

Peace

Never miss a chance do you? He had a foot injury for a week or 2, not that that would matter to a UL toady.

He played sparingly as Pringle's back up. Instead of hating on Elam people need to praise the development of Pringle, he's come a long way. Doesn't fit certain agendas I guess.

Interesting at UK when you get a departmental scholarship, a student must achieve a 3.3 GPA, or it is suspended and then rescinded. But when you underperform on an athletic scholarship, it's all good.

Not Elam's fault he was over rated in high school.

We need to let this go and accept him for what he is.

Elam is just not that good. The people that cant handle the fact well I dont know what to tell you. He is wat a JR and still does not command a double team? He never gets a push, He is allways getting pushed backwards. I never see him blow up the offensive line ever. I don't think I have ever seen him blow up 1 play on D. Pringle a way better option on D line.

He's playing less and less and that trend will more than likely continue. He is what he is.

I'd say he's now providing SEC depth at his position for UK. He's not what everyone wanted him to be, but he's still providing useful minutes for UK. Let's just be happy the we have some experienced backup at the position now.

I saw him get thrown to the ground on one play, that's about all I remember seeing, maybe his technique will improve, along with more playing time.

Redshirt him next year and move him to the oline. Bring in Dermontti Dawson and in particular Larry Warford to talk to him. He could play oline in the NFL but has to buy in

Mizzou had a guy about the same size playing OT and they used him as a FB to score a TD. Elam should be on the OL since he's not quick enough to play at the nose.

Move him to defensive tackle and get him off the nose. Let him play where his height isn't such a detriment to him. He is wasting at the nose.

I believe I saw on one particular play he was really slow following the snap and was swinging at air... I truly hope I was wrong, but I believe I did see him do this. That being said I still LOVE the kid, and thank him for coming to UK and giving it his 100%.

I remember seeing him fall down. Try to get up and fell down again. It was a tackle for a loss on himself

For the record, I have never "hated" on Elam. I have criticized his play as a NT and suggested he may actually be better suited as a 3 or 4 tech player. Also, for the record , there are players on every team in America that do not meet "expectations". I do not mind in the least your criticism of me as a poster. However, in the interest of fairness and common courtesy, please take some time to call out the other posters on this board who have seen the same thing in Elam's play as I have. I think you can find a number of them in this thread.

Noticed you made no comment about Pringle. Not negative so no need I suppose.

He should red shirt if UK has another person next year to relieve Pringle. Basically tell him that he needs to gain strength and lose weight and if he doesn't, he won't play. His height without strength is a handicap in the SEC. I'm sure he knows that so it is up to him to get better.

Elam's problem seems obvious. He cannot keep weight off....He looks fat and out of shape.

Stoops has commented in past that it's very difficult for Elam to maintain his weight. I think that's the main issue.

I'm glad our D-Line is playing well right now.

I really think Middleton is a future star. That boy is big and quick. He is only going to get stronger.

Look for Elam to get more snaps this week. Last week we didn't need him on the field with the tempo they tried to run. Georgia is a pro style offense. This is the games he is supposed to be productive in. We will see, but look for more snaps out of him based on Georgia style of play

Love what we're seeing from Middleton...bright future.

Not sure if Elam could play OL either. He's certainly not quick enough to play Tackle and not sure he's strong enough to be effective inside either (seems like he can hold his ground, but can't really push people around like you would expect). Can really only help us on the D-line in short yardage / goal line situations and by providing some depth at NG / DT. He just doesn't move very well (lacks athleticism).
