I've had Directv for all of one week. I've been a lifelong cable subscriber and finally decided to take the plunge since it seems I hear nothing but positives about satellite. First off, the install guy did a ****** job with the installation. Instead of getting a ladder out and following the existing cable line under the roof awning, he decides to drill into my brick and run the cable at eye level all the way around my house. I really can't believe they never asked before drilling into the brick.
Then I come to find out that in Tupelo we don't get local/network channels in HD. Now I know I'm partly responsible for not noticing this while researching the service but I never would have thought that out of all the HD channels available, that the most important ones to me weren't an option. Again, as a newbie to satellite this never occurred to me. So now I'm not able to watch most major sporting events in HD unless they're on ESPN. No World Series, no Super Bowl, No BCS Bowls. Not to mention the few sitcoms I like to watch: Modern Family, Parks and Rec, and The Office.
And then, a couple days ago I see the cast for Always Sunny tweeting about losing FX, not to mention some other Fox offshoots. So now, not only will I not get to see my favorite show (Always Sunny) in HD, I won't be able to see it at all.
Is there any way for me to get out of my contract if this happens? I don't see how they are able to change the programming I signed up for and I just have to sit and take it. I know it's in the contract small print but ****.
This isn't how you gain customer loyalty.
