Does Schlarman get any credit yet?

For a maligned unit under Schlarman for the past 3 years...he does get alot of credit for this year. His units have always been better run blockers than pass blockers...but they've really done a better job at both tackle spots in protecting the edge pass rushers, which are a nightmare in SEC, when UK has chosen to pass the ball. The job Cole Mosier is doing is phenomenal.

I'd also comment I think Gran's playcalling is really helping Schlarman's unit blossom. UK has multiple run formations that I didn't see under Dawson. Having a true run threat on the read option also has to help as the DE can't just crash down...they have to respect Johnson's feet.

all in all...Schlarman's deserves ton of credit. I for one was not happy with his extension this offseason...but I'm glad to be wrong with what that OL is doing.

I wanted him gone, and will absolutely admit that I was wrong. He deserves a lot of credit for his O-line playing as well as they have.

I made a post a year or two ago when people were bashing John to give him some time slow and steady wins the race! If you watched his career at UK and as a coach you can see he is not flashy or loud but he keeps on working and is a tough guy. UK fans owe him gratitude for his play and now his coaching. Slow and steady wins the race.

He's been getting plenty of props from the fans.

Line play has been outstanding.

I'll gladly eat the crow. Lesson learned.

Coach Schlarman's guys are really progressing as well as the Coach himself. UK was smart by getting a seasoned OC who could help mentor the younger coaches. If you look at Schlarman's coaching history his main coaching stop before UK was Troy. Being an up and coming coach he needed a guy like Gran to help mentor him. Coach Gran has been coaching since 1989 and brings tons of SEC experience along with experiences from coaching at schools like Florida State.

While I'd love to give Schlarman all the credit, I personally do believe Gran has a hand in the development.

Has done a great job. Early on think was just a parellell to young guys learning to play against bigger faster dlineman than they have seen. We had toth and that was it as far as experience.

Imagine this line next year should someone be able to give good production at center. Know we won't have kind of play toth is giving but if we are good/decent there look oit

Big thread on here after the Miss st win giving him props

I have seen many threads on here and in hob. Op is just talking into the wind right now. The unit is much improved after heat was placed on the unit by fans who expected more.

that is correct. Earlier in the year some of the linemen were talking about how Gran himself was getting involved with them. He was moving the players around and trying different formations with them to see what worked.

I was not a Schlarman basher to begin with but I wasn't giving him much credit either. I have to now though, the offensive line has been great during this run. He definitely deserves some props!

I was critical of him last season, but he has whipped this O-line into shape. His alternating of the guards and tackles, will really pay off in the future.

It takes grown *** men to play O-line in the SEC, redshirt junior and senior 's , hopefully we will start seeing this every year. Quality depth and letting them grow up is the key to success!

I agree and that goes for all the coaches. There are so many things that are lntertwined in the big picture. Thats why its called a team game.

It is also the reason for everyone to be more patient and give the coaches time to get everyone on same page.
