208 bucks per year savings when a lot of schools would lose thousands of dollars if a game or even two were lost. Not to mention all the administrative time it would take from school officals trying to find 2 additional games to play. Hey, I have an idea- EB and Draughn- save the money you will spend in gas on the way to CHAPEL HILL for that 12/3 meeting, take your beatings the next 2 years and SHUT UP.

The NCHSAA needs to get rid of these split conferences where at all possible!

Read on the 2A board Brevard also wants to move to the WHC. Their numbers are more comparable to that conference, like Draughn. But unlike Draughn they make geographic sense. Brevard also actually wanted in the WHC but at the last minute went right back to the conference with Tuscola, Pisgah, Franklin, etc.

I thought the great Messiah was going to turn it all around. They were talking about tears at meetings being shed when Tom Brown spoke to the team before spring. So the greatest coach in history can't turn that ***** hole around. The real crying has just started. As you can see I have no respect for those clowns. Thirty years of hearing east burke beetch about everything not being fair for them. Grow the hell up. You to whiney Tom Brown.

Calls himself oldest rat in the barn. Should be the whiniest pig on the farm.

If they leave they should have to pay each remaining school $500.

Now a days with kids the way they are, I cant blame them for wanting out.Cant get anyone worth anything to come out to play and work hard. Athletes back when, would see the bar and bust their arse to get to that level. If the state lets them leave they put the rest of the Conf in a bind to add games. Most schools already have schedules in place. Wouldn't make sense to save two schools a tiny bit of money at the expense of many more.

Agreed, but over the top at Draughn. Student Athletes at Draughn with parents in the central
office at Burke County Public Schools pulling strings. Even costed
a coach or two their job.

Well, I was told by someone in the know from Newton-Conover tonight that even if the NCHSAA actually allows East Burke to move to the SD7, the schools in the SD7 will not let them in. They do not want to change things up 2 years before realignment. Not that I see the NCHSAA allowing them anyway. I do not know if the Western Highland schools want to take on Draughn, but the NCHSAA does not have any reason to let them leave the SMAC either. I suppose East Burke or Draughn could try to get into the Mountain Valley, but I doubt those schools would accept them either. There's really no point in East Burke or Draughn wasting their gas to go to Chapel Hill to fight this. You rejected another conference before they put you in the SMAC. It's really making both schools look bad. Take your beatings for 2 more years and get over it!

They should have asked for that trade - SMAC become 2A and sends their 3A schools to the Big South and we'll send our 2As to the SMAC.

That would make too much sense, Sasha, plus it would end The Romper Room Split Conference.

Of course it would. And they would never take advice from a female.

Are these schools in question competitive in other sports?

Yes, in the next realignment, Ashbrook will go 4A but Hunter Huss will return to 3A - they have had 3A numbers the last two years. So I think, other than the travel between the schools furtherest away in 2A that it works - or could work at least for the next 2 years.

They were denied. As they should have been. Only moves were Cardinal Gibbons to 4A and JM Robinson to 3A. JMR is headed to the SPC, making it a 10 team conference. That may force Central Cabarrus to drop Burns. I really thought they might go in with the Union schools since they only have a 6 team league. But geographically it makes sense. And there is precedent with Patton joining the CVC in 2007 and East Rowan, South Rowan and Carson joining the NPC that year too to make both leagues 10 teams.

Agreed! I talked to our AD and he wants all the Cleveland and Gaston County 3As together.

Not happening. They didn't have to because Albermarle and West Stanly had already dropped them, and Robinson was previously a nonconference game.

I would welcome that! But Ashbrook won't be there when the realignment comes out since they will be 4A. You'll have to include Stuart Cramer, but by that time they should field a competitive team.

Do you think that SC will have 3A numbers by that time? I think they will still be on 2A even with 4 classes.

So that would mean 9 team conference and all 3A? I'm down with that if it means no more games against Rutherford or Burke County squads. Maybe SC could get an exemption like Huss did.

I know split cons. are an issue, but how about a 2A/3A with 2A being Shelby, East Lincoln, Lincolnton, and West Lincoln. the 3A part would be Crest, Burns, Kings Mtn and North Lincoln. You could still play Gaston County as part of your noncon. schedule.

I think once they split the South Point students into East Gaston and Cramer, Cramer will easily be 3A. EG might be 4A again but I would think the school board would split all the kids up so they could continue to field a 2A/3A in county conference.

Or maybe they could split up Crest and make a East Burns team.

Get rid of those schools. They don't need to be in the same conference that consistently produce state champions.they can't compete. They need to play more morganton,Lenoir, and hickory area trams. That's more their speed.
