Mt.Airy D wasn't good versus East Surry either. Mt.Airy is a great team, but 1aa in the West is weak with N.Stanly going east.

Gives a player or two a chance to step up , Bears had an undefeated jv team, hill will get the start at running back , he had a little success in the second half against the cards . I’m imagine cole Shelton will see snaps as well, he was a great jv running back in his day. I imagine josh penn will finally see the field on the varsity side of the ball after having a dominating jv season. Bears have talent outside of 3 or 4 players they just haven’t been able to show it as the injured players were so dominant in there positions. I would say Greene plays , smith won’t for rest of season. We won’t make excuses like one poster said we would , what we will do is line up and play a little football, you might be surprised. But if the cards win they will play in the ship, the northwest 1a and west will be represented by a real good football team , I’ve been high on the cards all year . But then again I don’t think I would count my chickens before they hatch , you still got to play a game against a team at there place that will have a heavy chip on there shoulder and a tradition that has expectations when you put that jersey on. A rivalry that is bitter and usually is a toss up no matter who has what. So we will see

I would also add here gdawg, as you know, these cards have a chip on their shoulder and there is a expectation to uphold the tradition of that red and white jersey as well. The rivalry is the way rivalries should be. The Programs want to beat each other as much as anyone but there is also a deep respect for each other as well.

Wrong again Buzz. Make sure your using some sea bond on those dentures so they don’t fly out. My post wasn’t disrespectful of the bears. Isn’t it strange that every poster from MA on here respects what the cards will bring to MA on Friday. Seems like you are real defensive for some reason.

Your right my bad ! But I am right about them being beat by a #16seed as a # a 1 my brother played on the team that lost to Polk County.

Yes that did happen around 2000. If memory serves me correctly that team had numerous late season injuries but still shouldn’t have lost that game.

ES was a 3 seed that year. That was also the same year that MA was undefeated and 4TD favorites over ES and got beat last game of season and beat by Swain 14-0 in the first round.

This is a chance for our returning players next year to step up we won't have Donathan Green then anyway Johnathan Smith will be on that team but hey next week gives some of our underclassmen a chance to make a statement and some early Varsity experience if we use jv fill ins as far as running back the Hill kid is pretty tough already

I really hope those young men heal up and are ready to go on Friday. Don’t like to see any players season end with a injury, especially this time of the year.

several of the players on both teams hang out with each other so there’s no hide/seek with players; kids here

Hate to hear that for the kids almost as much as I am gonna hate hearing it as an excuse after the cards roll
Like you don't EVER make excuses! These are two serious injuries and you're making light of these injuries! very classy! Go luck to the Cards anyway

Word on the street is that things aren’t as bad as originally reported. No concussion for Greene and only a sprain (not broken) for Smith. If true, it’s good to hear that these young men didn’t experience season-ending injuries.

They played in the Western Finals in 2001 v. Albemarle (TA Meclendon later went on to play RB at NC State). I’m also wanting to say they won a western state title in the 60s (at the time there was a western association and an eastern association).

Man, that Albemarle run... they were nasty

So it could be the second time in the modern era. Good for them if it happens.

Yes he did. I was there sitting amongst the Albemarle fans talking junk to them about what ES was gonna do. 50 points later, I was the laughing stock and had to laugh with them!..LOLOLOL..Those Bulldog fans ran me into the ground that night in laughter.
