I hate to start another thread, but the others are all over the place. A few thoughts from after the game:

1. The East Surry passing attack is very very good. Boaz throws a great ball, and had to throw a few great balls on the run last night.

2. Stephen Gosnell is very good, but so is Landon Stevens. Benji Gosnell, Dylan Mosley, and Kyler Jessup are all 3 good too and can hurt you at any moment, but Stevens really gets overlooked by Gosnell.

3. The kicker for East Surry is very good as well. He did a very good job on kickoffs all night long.

4. The OL for East Surry more than held their own all night long, and I think wore Reidsville down.

5. Reidsville and East Surry both have very good defenses despite the score, I just think the offenses for both teams are ridiculously good. Isaac Washington is a big time D1 football player. He was doubled all night and still found ways to get to the QB, the dude is good. He might not have the big size as other DE’s, but he has the speed and strength.

6. What a CROWD. Reidsville and East Surry packed that stadium and both sides were loud the entire night, it felt much more like a 4th round playoff game than it did a regular season non-conf game.

7. The playcall by Lowman on 4th down under 2 minutes to play was pure excellence.

Boaz threw the ball well, as did the Reidsville quarterback. Gosnell played, probably the best high school game I have seen. I would love to see his stat line.

The 4th down play call took courage and the design was genius.

I was disappointed with the East Surry defensive line play. Reidsville ran the ball well and the quarterback didn't receive a lot of pressure. The offensive line could not open holes, but the pass blocking was wonderful.

Great win that can only help moving forward.

There was a huge amount of offensive talent on the field last night - 1,187 yards of it.
(East Surry had 594 total yards, Reidsville 593).

Disappointed in East Surry DL? Alot of that has to do with Reidsville.

There was no answer for Gosnell last night. Without his effort the game turns out drastically different.

Last night was the 2nd time I have seen Cardinals this year and all I can say is WOW. Athletes were all over the field for both sides. Massive crowd and I talked with folks that came from all over to see this one. I saw folks from Mt. Airy, Forsyth County, Greensboro, Hickory, Tarboro, martinsville, Burlington. We all got our money’s worth that is for sure.
The difference in this game was the offensive line for ES. They were a machine. Boaz was only touched one time during the game as I believe TGT said on another thread. He had time to go through his reads and picked Reidsville apart.
Anyone who was there last night saw that ES has more weapons outside of Gosnell. Gosnell is a beast and was the best player on the field. They have two or three other receivers that are 6’2” or better with wheels, Boaz is a monster that threw dimes and a OL that is fantastic. IMO, if you say neither team can’t play defense then you wasn’t there or don’t truly understand the explosiveness of both offenses. Reidsville’s OL played well and keep Pinnix clean for most of the night as well. Big games are won in the trenches and last night that was the deciding factor IMO. Both teams should represent the West in the State Championship if they continue to take care of business. Last night felt like a state championship atmosphere with both teams throwing haymaker after haymaker. Top 3 best high school football games I have seen in my 50+ years. Good luck to both programs with the rest of their seasons.
