East Surry vs Reidsville May Be A Good Match-Up

Eden Morehead (Eden, NC) played Mount Airy & Reidsville last year in back to back weeks and lost to both Mount Airy & Reidsville by similar scores so MA matched up with Reidsville last year pretty good but Mount Airy will lose badly to Reidsville this year but can East Surry pull off a huge upset with all their returning players?

Two great teams ,I think everyone wants East to lose so bad ,they are overlooking how good this East team is ,just as easily Reidsville could get beat !Who knows ,I said before ,don't be surprised .We know Starmount is not a Reidsville ,but that team was decent and they got manhandled,east jv lost in overtime against Reidsville last season,but in the end no matter who wins ,it doesn't put a lock on the season for either team ,they will have to grind all year ,you can get beat at any time .

Reidsville is a different animal. A good showing against the Rams will be good for East Surry. This will be the best team East Surry faces this year.

I'm certainly not rooting for ES to lose. As a Tarboro fan, I honestly think it would be a lot more interesting for the Cardinals to win against Reidsville. It would definitely put some more spice back into the 1AA playoffs that has been sorely missing since WRH moved up to 2A. It would make East Surry the prohibitive favorite and it would put the target on their backs. It would be interesting to see how they respond to being the hunted rather than the hunter.

Of course, the number of pompous ES posts would grow exponentially also. I don't find that part interesting at all, the end result being that I'm kind of indifferent to the outcome. It is what it is.

Give Reidsville props also. Do they get any love for winning against a 1A opponent? Not likely. They have not much to gain and everything to lose. They aren't scheduling soft. They are scheduling games that will make them playoff ready.

I thought the defense would be our weak spot this year but they have far outdone my expectations swarming to the ball every down!!

Tarboro is not looking ahead or thinking about any potential playoff games. They take no one lightly and their focus is on each upcoming opponent. The first goal is to win their non conference games and then win the conference championship. Then and only then do you think about playoff games one at a time. The East Surry and Reidsville game will give East a good measuring stick to see if they have made any gains from last years team. Since its the Vikings by week i've heard several people say they will attend the game. I'm sure alot of fans and coaches will have a eye on this one. Good luck to both teams..

The big problem every team faces playing Reidsville is they probably not going to run the ball but about ten or twelve times. They will throw six or seven really good receivers at you that can take it to the house from anywhere. The quarterback is very talented with a good arm . Probably one of the best coaches in the state don't hurt. Most teams can keep two good receivers in check but when they go five wideouts somebody can't cover

I’m curious to know what the talent level of these teams East Surry is blowing out? I’m asking because according to Simmons East’s schedule is ranked 28th even with Reidsville.

For reference, outside of Rocky Mount, Northern, and Southwest I know how weak Tarboros schedule is and theirs is ranked 11th.

Starmount is a good team. They were the team that ES beat in last year's regional final and have a lot of people back. Won at MA the week before East killed them. They're not Reidsville, but they are a pretty good 1A team.

East Wilkes doesn't look like much right now. North Surry looked good for the first five and a half quarters of their season (beat Alleghany 44-13 and led Elkin 12-0) and have been outscored 99-0 since then, losing 34-12 to Elkin and then we know what happened against East.

I haven't seen this year's ES team yet, but Cory's seen them twice, last night and against Starmount, and says they're significantly better than last year, even given how good they were then.

If Tarboro or Reidsville ,beats this team like last seasons title game ,then hats off to either ,I've seen Tarboro play ,and they played very well ,I don't think there is anyway East gets blown out like that again ,yes they are definitely better ,East Wilkes ,North Surry ,absolutely not a challenge ,Norths running back was fast ,but defense closed in on hm very fast ,that's East Surrys biggest improvement ,that defense is smothering ,the Starmount team was definitely not a bad team at all .Elijah wright ran the ball very good last nite ,coaching staff has many options to go to .Hard to gauge any team on any win ,because every game is different .I don't think a win or loss at Reidsville spells victory or defeat for the cards.

I kind of agree. Not saying Tarboro is better than Reidsville. I just think Tarboros style of offense wears teams out quicker than a spread offense. Especially teams that have players that go both ways. Kind of like you saw in the 2nd half of the championship game last year.
