What a collapse by the Egyptians. Held a 2-0 lead in the 79th minute, now they find themselves down 3-2 in stoppage time.

That was a crazy game. In reality it should have been 3-3. VAR once again has produced a controversial decision. I wish they would get rid of VAR besides reviewing violent conduct and let the ref control the game. As a ref myself I would hate knowing I had to delay a decision or not make one and rely on a team in a both who didn't see it real time or feel the match conditions. I am glad Argenina moved on but the VAR decision makes you shake your head.

Yeah I'm not a fan of overturning a goal like that. Yes, it was a foul, but Egypt proceeded to go nearly the length of the pitch. It's not like the play occurred in front of the Argentine goal.

Was unfortunate for Egypt for sure. It was a clear foul. IF foul doesn’t happen that entire drive/goal doesn’t happen so in the end they got it right.

Now it is certainly up for debate how much VAR should be implemented if at all. It definitely did what it is supposed to on that play. If Egypt is mad, they should be mad at their player for stepping on that players foot.

How'd Messi look?
Good. For the last 10 minutes. Not very good the rest of the game. I posted on this in the other thread. Old guys can score and get the energy to play in short tournaments. He isn't capable of turning in a season at the top level anymore. He knows this, that's why he is in MLS. If he could still do it he would still be in Europe. That's been my point all along. I have specifically stated it that way multiple times. Yall are not commenting on what I actually have said.

If Messi is the best in the World Cup 2026 as a 38 year old… that speaks volumes to how great he truly is. Best player on the #1 team in the world. That’s NOT BAD for a washed up broken down 38 year old.

What game did you watch? He was involved the whole freaking game. He created numerous scoring opportunites that weren't executed.

Messi is noticeably good, even to me who doesn't watch soccer.

But I never saw our number one player, Pulisic, do anything special last night before he was injured. Ami I wrong?

Pulisic was hyped 5-6 years ago as the best player to ever live. I know many in the USA want a winner, but it’s a lesson learned, learn it well… NEVER fall for soccer hype in this country. There’s clear reasons we will never be competitive with the upper echelon of the soccer world. I know there’s another out there in a few years who will be the next Messi/Yamal and US Soccer will finally arrive. Don’t buy it.

You can enjoy the games and the sport but don’t buy the nonsense. You saw Pulisic I’m sure and can draw your own conclusions as to him living up to the hype. A causal observer can see this clearly imo

Pulisic was mostly invisible the whole World Cup. What times he was able to play at all. Probably most disappointing player on the team. Not that he was the worst. But we knew the others who didn’t perform well were marginal at best.

Pulisic is an average player in Seri A who gets hurt a lot.

You have to like Carli Lloyd. She’s not afraid to tell. It like it is.

"I gotta be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Christian Pulisic," she continued. "I think whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn't see enough from him in this particular game and really the whole World Cup. Little glimpses here and there."
