Everything Shane Beamer said about Lonnie Teasley firing, LSU loss on Sunday teleconference
One day after South Carolina’s 20-10 loss to LSU, head coach Shane Beamer spoke to the media in his weekly Sunday teleconference.
Kind of odd. He says the OL didn't play that poorly, yet evaluating the tape from the game led him to fire the OL coach.Well, that about does it for me. Never thought Beamer was a wise choice but if he is successful then Gamecock football succeeds and in that case glad to be wrong. But as many have mentioned in various ways on several occasions, he’s just not a head coach. He’s immature and petty, can’t lead a program like that. If you read that article you know the exact tone and cadence he’s using when making the reference to the use of PFF. He’s done this on plenty of occasions now. And he’s correct, there’s things PFF doesn’t know but that doesn’t mean they are inaccurate, they are accurate last time I checked their assessment of SC’s OL. But none of that was even relevant. He couldn’t just simply own the fact that it was best to move on and not even go into all that.
And when we think about the whole situation; was it really the case that most of us who are fans for free knew there needed to be a change before the millionaire coach? That’s asinine. There is no way that can be true right? But Teaseley got a raise after last season. So it must be true. So why is that true? Is Beamer that stubborn or that stupid or yes?
It’s not that people want to beat up the OL, it’s just observation. Got no ill will towards Teaseley or the players. Really hate it for his family, because this likely means they move and that’s a headache on several levels. But it clearly wasn’t working. If anything Beamer should beat himself up for allowing the situation to fester. What caught my eye was this line:
"Even last night, people wanted to beat up the offensive line last night. We protected well"
5 sacks, Shane. FIVE!!! We most certainly did not "protect well" - At any rate, better late than never but would've been much better after or before the bowl game last year.
Well, he said the OL protected pretty well against LSU.There was nothing wrong with what he said in the press conference.
