I don't believe stoops is the answer but it's just my opinion. 7 wins is going to be his ceiling. Could I be wrong? Maybe. But I don't see a path for 9, 10 win teams with him. If he wins 6 half of our fans will want q statue built, and a lifetime contract offered. And Barney will oblidge. I've given up. Hopefully I'm wrong and he's the bomb. If not, we're stuck in mediocre land for decades.

You hang out with the wrong crowd. You might want too consider a different job.

I have a clothing store on the side. I own it with a few guys from Louisville that love around Memphis now. Good guys, but man, they love stoops at UK.

Should this come to be something special, I'll make sure they remember it. I still think it's fools gold. Not afraid to admit it, not afraid to be wrong. Cancer is worse.

I'm going to enjoy the ride. I think our recent wins are a byproduct of an historically weak SEC east schedule, but as a UK fan I will enjoy wins however they come.

I know the OP was joking, but I do t discount the premise. I'd be fine with him being told to step down during his postgame celebration. I'm at peace with another year too. By definition it's called apathy and it's what multiple decades of UK football has done to me.

I'm hoping for a bowl destination to have a reason to drink and act age inappropriate though.

I fully agree with this, but my natural aggression makes me want more regardless. I still think its all fools gold, but if it (down SEC) gives me a good year, I'll take the good year.

The SEC East has never been this bad since the divisions were set.

That is a fact.

We do not look like a really good team.

We are not beating good teams.

But we did lose our QB. This cant be discounted no matter how he looked initially.

Stoops has revamped the defense.

I have no idea what Schlarman did with this oline.

And we are winning games we normally lose.

CMS is still showing lots of signs of on-the-job training and he may very well have a ceiling.

@UKvisitor is another one perpetuating this myth that we dump coaches too soon and often. Simply not true. MB blew the Morriss staff off and Joker was very bad. That's it.

Who knows what another coach could do with this talent?

CMS wins 2 more he deserves next year to build on it.

If he doesnt, he's most likely here anyway and we try again.

We recycle coaches yearly!

Hope I'm wrong, but Stoops will ultimately fail here. The defense has looked better, but offense is what will keep us competitive. We are 10 years away from being able to field a defense that can win games consistently.

Stoops is always one good season away from losing his offensive coordinator. Which means he's always one bad hire away from a disaster.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Gran leaves for a "better job" at the end of the season.

Lets also not forget that the SEC is way way down from a typical year. If Stoops ends up winning 7 games....great. But anything much less will be a major red flag of how far he can lead the program imo.

Those of you who have lost all faith in Stoops seem completely miserable and unable to enjoy the success we are having. If you haven't noticed, our trajectory is up. There will be hiccups and bumps along the way for sure, but it's up. It seems all some of you do is look for absolutely any reason to disregard the success we are having and it prevents you to take an honest assessment for yourself about the potential we have going forward.

If you're able to think for yourself and believe you can analyze some information, go look at our roster and depth chart and check the class our players are in.

Let me help.

Defense has more to do with talent than offense. You can scheme your way into having a good offense without having to have a ton of talent.

The only way Kentucky will ever field a good enough defense to actually win games with it is if we manage to put together enough winning seasons to be able to recruit the level of talent that it takes to field an actual sec level defense.

Hence the 10 years away. And I don't think Stoops can put together enough winning seasons to get us to that point.

It will take an offensive scheme first type coach to get us to that point....Stoops imo is the wrong coach at the wrong time.

You do realize with maybe the exception of last night and nmst (i say maybe because defense didn't play bad last night, heck they scored seven, and gave up two short field touchdowns) the game we have won hasn't been shootouts in the stoops era. Last year our defense is what kept us in, and won most games we did win. (So go ahead and blame bad offense we played against instead of saying the defense has played well as of late)

If CMS or any coach for that matter starts winning 9-10 games a year how long before he/they leaves for another job.

I've seen other posters say this but I really don't agree. Why leave if you're winning 10 games a year here?! You're in the SEC, you prob have been given an ungodly open checkbook lifetime contract from MB, and you have top notch facilities and are being worshipped by the BBN...why leave?

Here's what I would like to see and believe is possible as a program:

1. 4-4 in the SEC becomes the expectation. That's going into the season expecting to beat Vandy, and USC, and MSU and Missouri.

If we lose one of those but steal one against Georgia or UT, we still meet expectations.

2. Going 3-5 or 2-6 in conference should be disappointing. Even if we go to a Bowl. It's ok to make a Bowl but still feel like we left something on the table.

3. Once every 4-5 years, we should have a team capable of going 6-2 in conference. That team would compete for a slot in Atlanta.

Not saying every year. Saying every class that comes through should have at least team with a chance to play for the SEC Title.

I don't care what the history has been. I think these are reasonable goals for the future.

R u serious? This program was in shambles when he took over. When he wins 8 you will say thats his ceiling when he wins 9 or 10 you will say yea but he cant win the big one. Stoops will never live up to your standards because you just dont want to be wrong

Fans of lesser programs always rationalize why their school is equal to elite programs and they're wrong nearly every time . Any ultra successful coach will absolutely leave here for a better or let's say easier job . The one exception might be a local coach that wants to live here and is satisfied with the job . Coaches don't pass up easier recruiting with an actual home recruiting base , more boosters with more money at a fb only school .

Come on. .. Bowl eligibility surely buys Coach Stoops at least two more years minimum!!! I am very excited about the possibility of the Cats becoming bowl eligible!!!

How many 9-10 wins a year coaches do the Sec have now, I'll say not many besides Saban at Ala. Look at Miles at LSU he won a championship and he still got fired. So what makes UK any different than anybody else that they would stay here for 10+ years.
