I agree. The community was pretty split. Now that there is a new school in Tekamah it seems like that ship has sailed. They should have gone through with the new high school idea they had in 2014 between Craig and Tekamah on Highway 32.
So if 12 teams opt down. The playoffs will be 16 of 20 in that class?the ineligible ones count towards the 32
I agree and have been saying this for years.I’ve always felt ineligible 8 man teams should play in their own district against only ineligible teams so they don’t impact points to teams who can advance to the playoffs.
At the very least the teams who play the ineligible teams should get the bonus pointsI’ve always felt ineligible 8 man teams should play in their own district against only ineligible teams so they don’t impact points to teams who can advance to the playoffs.
That would be fine, but still would like them just play each other. At the very least the teams who play the ineligible teams should get the bonus points
Just put them in one district and let them play each other. Might reduce the amount of teams opting down if they have to drive several hours to play a regular season game.At the very least the teams who play the ineligible teams should get the bonus points
Could be 10+ dropping from 11 man to 8 man. Might be a few that go up to 11 man to 8 man like Bridgeport is doing. Going to be a crazy few months while this gets settled. The classification changes are starting to pick up more this time.
Previous declared changes:
- Centura: 11 to 8 man
- Conestoga: 11 to 8 man
- Bridgeport: 8 to 11 man
- McCool Junction: 8 to 6 man
- Oakland-Craig: 11 to 8 man
- Tekamah-Herman: 11 to 8 man
If I understand it correctly, I believe these numbers have already been sent into the Dept. of Education, but I'm not sure when they become public.Could be 10+ dropping from 11 man to 8 man. any idea when they will release enrollment numbers?
It’s usually first week in December. If I understand it correctly, I believe these numbers have already been sent into the Dept. of Education, but I'm not sure when they become public.
Just go away from the two year exemption. The challenge in putting them all in one district would be that we allow the mid-cycle reclassification. If you put them all in one district, we'd have to do away with that. I think a couple of D1 teams this year are eligible that weren't last year. I believe both Alma and Twin River fit into this category.
I'd be all for capping the opt-down and 2-year exemption with a maximum number. For next cycle, I'd probably put it at 60. Anybody more than 5 over the eligibility count of 55 shouldn't be allowed to opt down or to receive a 2-year exemption status. Teams like David City (73) and Johnson County Central (70) wouldn't be allowed to opt down as they were this year, and teams like Bridgeport (73) wouldn't be allowed to receive their 2-year exemption status and be forced to play 11 man in a system like that.

Logan View and Scribner-Snyder to no longer Co-op in Football after this season

That definitely puts Logan View down in the C2 realm. Same reason Boone Central dropped Newman Grove. Rough for Scribner-Snyder. Not sure they'd find a co-op partner in the area. Also not sure how many kids from S-S played or were going to play football for that co-op.Good call for LV. Should put them back at the top of enrollment for C2 instead of being in C1.
The enrollment numbers were taken October 1. The NSAA will release classifications in late November or early December, then schools have to turn in their "wish lists" for non-district games prior to Christmas (usually). NSAA works on schedules in late December and early January, then releases them early February. I think this coming year schedules are released February 11.If I understand it correctly, I believe these numbers have already been sent into the Dept. of Education, but I'm not sure when they become public.
S-S had 3-5 kids on the roster this year. They hardly have kids left. Doesn’t make sense for LV to keep them in my opinion. That definitely puts Logan View down in the C2 realm. Omaha Nation leaving the All-Nations League? This is big newsAt the most recent NSAA Board meeting, the NSAA approved competitive equity waviers for the following schools. Which I assume to mean they will be allowed to opt down in classification and remain postseason eligible:
Alliance
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer
Madison
Morrill
Omaha Nation
Schuyler
Southern Valley
Tekamah-Herman
Wakefield
I was curious about that as well. They fit in well there competitively, but it is a lot of travel.Omaha Nation leaving the All-Nations League? This is big news

There is approximately 70 schools left to declare for 11, 8 or 6 man yet. If we stay true to the numbers roughly 30 will be 11 man, 30 will be 8 man and 10 will be 6 man. The classes are not split evenly. Class A will have 32 based off this year. Class B will have 25. That puts roughly 35 in class C1 and Class C2. D1 will have 32 teams set by new NSAA rule and rest will be split between D2 and D3 approximately 45 teams in a class. D6 will have 35. Is there any better way to split up classes to make them more even. I know Class A is looking at a different options. Idea: Class A be 24 teams, Class B be 24 teams. Class A and B play 9 reg season games and take 12 to playoffs first 4 get first round byes. Class C1 and C2 have next 36 schools in each class and take 16 teams to playoffs and play 9 reg games. 11 man would have 120 schools. D1, D2, and D3 split evenly between the 3 classes making each about 40 teams play 9 regular season games and take 16 teams to playoffs. D6 would play 8 regular season games and take 16 to playoffs. They don't need to be even. They switched to enrollment numbers as a cutoff for a reason.
