He'd leave for 5 jobs in the SEC alone. LSU, UF, UGA, UTex, & A&M can all offer him NIL support and a ceiling that UM can't. And that's assuming he doesn't want to deal with Bama crazy and rules them out. I don't know how he feels about coaching in a place like OSU or FSU. There's also the possibility he would go to a place like Miami even though it's not necessarily a better place to win.
They are in the same position we were in with Mullen before he got pissed about whatever (whether it was dealing with Cohen or Cannizaro or what). There are a handful of jobs he'd definitely leave for but those type jobs don't come up often. He at least has his sights on a true blue blood and not an almost blue blood type Auburn, so that helps. Not sure he'd go to say UTenn (ignoring the history) or Oklahoma as they are not really the top but are high enough that you basically don't leave for a better job (again, ignoring that Lane did just that to UT; that was him having ties to USC and the area).
It would be interesting to see what, if anything, the NCAA and the conferences would do if a coach bailed out on a team before the playoffs to take another job. Would they move signing day and/or the portal window?
They should treat it like they did with Florida State and Jordan Travis' injury. Without Kiffin - they aren't a playoff team. I wouldn't invite them.
