For all of you "Kiffin's not leaving" folks, go check out the OM 247 board

He’d probably only leave for a top 5 college job, LSU was a top 5 job prior to the governor’s crazy rant. If i was an OM fan, i’d be most worried about him leaving for the Giants.
He'd leave for 5 jobs in the SEC alone. LSU, UF, UGA, UTex, & A&M can all offer him NIL support and a ceiling that UM can't. And that's assuming he doesn't want to deal with Bama crazy and rules them out. I don't know how he feels about coaching in a place like OSU or FSU. There's also the possibility he would go to a place like Miami even though it's not necessarily a better place to win.

Like most things, the reality lies somewhere in the middle. Ole Miss is not a bad job and they will be willing to pay him more to stay, so it is not a foregone conclusion that he leaves (despite what some on here think). At the same time, there are numerous current job openings (with more to come) at schools that are better jobs than Ole Miss (despite what some folks in Powder Blue think), so there is a good chance he leaves as well if he can convice a school to pay him big. But is Lane Kiffin really worth a 10 year / $150 million type contract? I don't know if anyone not named Nick Saban is worth that kind of scratch.
They are in the same position we were in with Mullen before he got pissed about whatever (whether it was dealing with Cohen or Cannizaro or what). There are a handful of jobs he'd definitely leave for but those type jobs don't come up often. He at least has his sights on a true blue blood and not an almost blue blood type Auburn, so that helps. Not sure he'd go to say UTenn (ignoring the history) or Oklahoma as they are not really the top but are high enough that you basically don't leave for a better job (again, ignoring that Lane did just that to UT; that was him having ties to USC and the area).

If Ole Miss were to make it through this season, they'd have a couple of seasons of reprieve because most of the schools he'd leave for are set for the next two years (you'd think) after this, either because they just made a hire or because the current coach probalbyu have two years more or less guaranteed based on the current temperature of his seat. Their problem is Lane probably knows that also. If he doesn't leave this year, he's going to have to wait for these type jobs to come up again and who knows if he'll be the hottest name after a couple of years of a more typical SEC schedule.

Serious here - If he leaves, the gentleman's thing to do is to get them through the playoffs, assuming they go (theoretically, they could lose to both us and Florida and miss out). I know it's OM, but he shouldn't just leave them high and dry (although Mullen did ....). Then he should take the Florida job. Penn State's too cold, and Baton Rouge is just not a nice place.
It would be interesting to see what, if anything, the NCAA and the conferences would do if a coach bailed out on a team before the playoffs to take another job. Would they move signing day and/or the portal window?

They should treat it like they did with Florida State and Jordan Travis' injury. Without Kiffin - they aren't a playoff team. I wouldn't invite them.

I have been of the opinion that he stays at OM strictly for the son to graduate high school. However, sure seems to be a lot of smoke things are going on. Possibly meeting with UF next week during the bye. Several OM fans are starting to concede. I haven't changed my mind yet, but, it is entertaining.

It’s kind of now or never for him. These opportunities don’t come along often &
He's at the peak of his marketability. There are good high schools in Baton Rouge & Gainesville.

Let's break this down:

LSU - after that crazy rant by the governor and the mess they made of firing BK, no wanted P2 sitting coach is going there.

UF - possible, but coaching there has been a train wreck since Urban left. With the portal, their HS recruiting advantage is not as great an asset as it was pre portal. Lane saw what happened to Mullen.

Texas/UGA/TOSU - yes any coach in the country will take these jobs, but none are coming open.

Bama - he left on bad terms, and after Saban, Mr. all football all the time, I doubt they want an childish coach who constantly feels the need to draw attention to himself and troll people online. They would never offer him.

Texas AM - possible, but ain't coming open.

Miami - he's not leaving for the U, maybe for the Fins though.

FSU - I think he would be a great fit and kill it there, don't know if he'd take it.

Were I an OM fan, the Giants would most concern me.

What Lane has in Oxford - he's bigger than the program and everyone is pulling in the same direction (Bama had the same deal under Saban), Lane is more powerful than the AD and likely the President. Apparently his family likes it there, his son is a raising star at OHS and they seem to be well funded NIL wise. He's a huge fish in a tiny pond.

Florida is a good situation, LSU has lost some luster. He Can win a title at Florida, he can’t at Ole Miss

None of that matters to him if another school is willing to stuff his pockets with more cash and no telling how much more cash for NIL. And every head coach's family likes it wherever they are at the time. What else are they supposed to say?
