Am I nuggin futs or something? The photo appears to me to depict 2 bucks that engaged each other, got their horns locked into a death grip, and expired of natural causes or starvation.

What am I missing?

I would assume he is saying it is a shame the deer got locked up that way and died. A waste of meat, two impressive kills, and mounts for the wall if you are into that.

It would suck too to think how long they were locked up to have to die of starvation. Now if they rammed each other so hard they broke each other necks, that is a good way to go. Maybe not as good as getting caught in the gears of a combine, or having your nuts bit off by a Laplander, but still more than acceptable.

I have nothing against responsible hunting, but two deer dying because of a territorial dispute and having the earth reclaim the bodies is about the least wasteful way to go out I can think of. Humans waste - nature does not.
