The list looks pretty accurate to me, I mean PSU at 11, Maryland at 12, and Michigan at 13 is pretty dead on.

Interesting. The B1G West seems to be generally friendlier than the B1G East. That is if you take ChatGPT seriously.

Indy and Iowa should be higher.

It’s a wait and see on Northwestern.

And going by who sits around me from Wisky, not so much they’re not nice it’s just that they’re morons.

Not sure what the equivalent of a Walmart wolverine is for Wisky. But that’s who’ve I’ve encountered the most.

Michigan if you include the real alums from around here is in the right spot. Not so much for being mean but so aloof it comes across that way.

This is somehting that can be checked.

I asked: Please rank all 14 Big Ten fan bases by friendliness

It answered..

Ranking all 14 Big Ten fan bases by friendliness is a subjective task as experiences can vary. However, based on general perceptions and fan experiences, here is a subjective ranking of the friendliness of Big Ten fan bases:
  1. Iowa Hawkeyes
  2. Wisconsin Badgers
  3. Northwestern Wildcats
  4. Indiana Hoosiers
  5. Minnesota Golden Gophers
  6. Purdue Boilermakers
  7. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  8. Michigan Wolverines
  9. Ohio State Buckeyes
  10. Michigan State Spartans
  11. Maryland Terrapins
  12. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
  13. Penn State Nittany Lions
  14. Illinois Fighting Illini
It's important to note that this ranking is based on general perceptions and individual experiences may differ. Friendliness can vary within fan bases, and these rankings are not definitive or absolute. It's always a good idea to approach any fan base with respect and an open mind.

I tried several other variations.. and ChatGPT always included us at or near the bottom but also close to only give ranks for anywhere from 10 to 12 teams.. ignoring a couple. But none of them had Minnesota as high as the OP quoted tweet.

Going to the Wisconsin homecoming this year with Mrs. Shift. Will prepare a detailed niceness report after the trip.

Nebraska fans suck, no question about it

We went to Nebraska, twice. Some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. It was almost like being in a Stepford Wife movie they were so nice. I've had nothing but positive interactions with them when they've come to RU as well. Hell, @SF88 was sending Nebraska fans that shopped in his store to my tailgate last time they were in town 🤣

Fan interactions at RU are what you make them. Frankly, I'd drop Michigan fans to dead last ..both when visiting their stadium as well as when them come to Piscataway. I don't have enough derogatory descriptions for them.

This is obviously very subjective but as a Purdue fan I'd put Rutgers in the upper half. Seems to be mutual respect between us so far as I have observed.

Positive - Nebraska, Iowa, Rutgers, Ohio State
Neutral - Minnesota, Penn State, Northwestern, Illinois
Negative - MSU, Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, Wisconsin

Indiana football fans seem OK, but their hoops fans hate RU, maybe because Ron Harper Jr is king of Indiana or something. Maryland fans seem OK.

It's funny that I have tried 10+ different ways (even the direct question you asked) and can't get it to give me a list of all 14. It only wants to list the schools in the conference. This is the best I could get:

While it's challenging to definitively rank the friendliest fan bases in the Big Ten Conference (B1G) as perceptions can vary, here is a list of some universities whose fan bases are often recognized for their friendliness:
  1. Iowa Hawkeyes (University of Iowa): Iowa fans are often praised for their welcoming and hospitable nature, creating a friendly atmosphere for both home and away fans.
  2. Wisconsin Badgers (University of Wisconsin-Madison): Known for their "cheesehead" tradition and friendly demeanor, Wisconsin fans are often regarded as welcoming and gracious hosts.
  3. Nebraska Cornhuskers (University of Nebraska-Lincoln): Nebraska fans are recognized for their passionate support and their reputation for being friendly and respectful to visitors.
  4. Northwestern Wildcats (Northwestern University): Northwestern fans are known for their sportsmanship and creating a welcoming environment for both their own team and visiting fans.
  5. Purdue Boilermakers (Purdue University): Purdue fans are often regarded as friendly and enthusiastic, creating a positive atmosphere during games.
It's important to note that these rankings are not definitive, and experiences may vary based on individual encounters and specific game situations. Friendliness can be subjective, and each fan base has its own unique characteristics and traditions. It's always best to approach sports fandom with respect and enjoy the spirit of competition and camaraderie that comes with it.

feel the same about PSU but you step away from NU, they are fking ******** and I guess it's common knowledge per other boards.

My most recent was in St Martin, long story short, some NU fans starting taking pot shots at RU and NJ but I set them straight. Hell even the bartender offered to call them an ambulance lololol

PSU and Iowa absolutely belong there, they are very friendly to opposing fans.
