Actually, he's making the case to be fired this year. I know Joe Rice fronted the money to fire Muschamp. Maybe he will do it again.

How low do those ranking shows go?

If they list out the teams out to 50 or 60, he has a chance of being right.

On the plus side, this absurd comment has displaced his nutty comments from the A&M game in the news cycle

He doesn't know who is his OC will be.
He doesn't know who is QB will be.
He doesn't know if his DC will be back.
He doesn't even know what players will back.

He is either blowing smoke or he's delusional. Either way it's clown behavior which is the only thing that's makes sense... Clown program, clown coach.

He has fully bought into being a true gamecock. He is embracing the the traditional battle cry of gamecock football, "WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR!!".

It is more evident than never that he really wants to be here.

I hadn't made that connection. Ouch

His image is taking a beating this week.
It's VERY obvious to me that Beamer is lobbying for his job to come back next season. Between that and what Finebaum is saying, I'm thinking we might have a new Head Coach next season.

You know what this sadly reminds me of? Years ago, I was dating my first really serious girlfriend...at the stage of life where you're dating to get married and not just for fun. Well, it was apparent the relationship was starting to go south on her part, so I really tried to artificially ramp up the seriousness to try changing the trajectory. It didn't work (thankfully, in hindsight). When you're desperate, you start saying/doing crazy things.

Yes, there is stiff competition for Head Coaches from blue blood schools. But, don't sell ourselves short. There are good experienced Head Coaches at the P4 level (Scott Satterfield and Jake Dickert) that we could get. And there are good experienced Head Coaches at sub P4 schools we could get. AGAIN Don't sell ourselves short.

Yes. We can pay among the best. Beamer is currently the 20th highest paid coach, and we could easily get that into top 15 territory.

Of all the schools with openings, the only one we'd possibly be competing against is Arkansas.

Let me add, I like Jake Dickert. Kind of reminds me of when we hired Ray Tanner from another ACC school for the baseball job. That hire turned out fine, on the baseball field (not administration). While I prefer a more offensive oriented coach like Scott Satterfield (no relation to Marcus), I am reminded that Georgia has done well with defensive-oriented Kirby Smart. So, there's that.

In spite of how the game has changed, I still like a defensive minded head coach. No matter what, I stick to the old adage "offense wins game, defense wins championships."

Our current team supports that somewhat. The year has sucked, but as abysmal as our offense has been, our D has kept us in most every game. A good, solid defense keeps games manageable.

We might be able to pay tip 20, but are we handicapped in attracting coaches due to the SEC/share a state kind of reasons?

What I'm saying is, we might be able to match monetarily with another school, but our situation might not be as attractive. (VT and Franklin could be an example)

That's not to say our money couldn't attract a good mid tier coach.

It's hard to say. It's a hard place to win at, for sure, but the right coach CAN win here.

Coaching hires are a total crapshoot, but I think you just make a sensible hire, and I believe there's an abundance of those to be made. There are plenty of solid P4 coordinators to choose from, some G5 head coaches. There are 8 P4 openings right now, which is a lot, but there are 67 P4 teams.

If I'm Donati, I'd just start making inquiries at the top of my list and work my way down. If I get far enough down the list that I figure it's not worth the change, then don't do anything. If you get a hit on one of your top 5 or so guys, then pull the trigger.

Wait til next year. That takes me back to the 80's. Sounds to me he is recruiting with that statement as stupid as it sounds. Recruit for what? I don't know. Maybe players or maybe his job. Regardless it was another dumb thing to say. Do we not have a PR department?

Toxic positivity. Beamer is Dabo without the clout.
It could have been such a different, more sane statement. He could have said "Our goal is to be sitting here at this time next year to watch and see where we are ranked in the CFP." That's reasonable and what you expect your coach to say.

After we beat Coastal, it will be frightening if he says "if South Carolina football was a stock, you better load up on it". He would be going full Dabo.
That would not shock me. The way he was moving and waving his arms celebrating to our fans at halftime of the Texas A&M game.... :ROFLMAO:

This sounds to me like the last gasp of a guy who knows his time is over. My guess is that the AD knows that the market for replacements will be overstressed with the high-profile jobs that are open compared to the historic underperformer we are. Beamer probably gets one more run at it and we can all hope the market is better for available coaches. My vote would be to get Golesh from USF if he still around but therein lies a huge question. SC football may be out of it for a decade because of this.

I agree with you. Can we please get a coach with head coach experience? At least show that you want to win as a university and not ride the coattails of the SEC.

He’s right. The pieces are there.

we are going to start by not having 7 illegal procedures in the first game. It’s all up from there

No one is ever out of it for 10 years. We’re good every other year so next year we’re due 🫩
