My father and I are both high school football coaches in North Alabama and are trying to hit multiple games and stadiums each year. We did IU and Notre Dame a couple years ago and this week we are hitting Louisville on Friday and then up to Ohio State on Saturday. What traditions and experiences do we need to see on Friday? I have no previous experience in Louisville so any help would be awesome.

Cardmarch, which is pretty typical on a lot of campuses, C-A-R-D-S cheer, it’s kind of a pro-type atmosphere- not any traditions that really jump out. Anyone else?

After we lost to Cal Saturday taking us out of playoff contention I wouldn't be expecting a great atmosphere. You really got cheated by that loss because had we won it would've been an electric atmosphere as good as or better than anywhere. I think Churchill Downs is running right now. If you've never been Id definitely go and its not far at all from the stadium.

Agree here … the CardMarch which typically happens about 2.5 hours before kickoff just south of the stadium, is a tradition worth checking out. After the CardMarch is over, you might even find a few friendly tailgaters nearby who will share a beverage and some delicious tailgate food.

Check out The Alley at the corner of Floyd and Boxley. There’s also a huge and friendly tailgate with live music a couple of doors north of the Alley on Floyd.
