The announcer needs to shut up he didn’t even have to say he is from Virginia is mouth is showing it. What I saw on the penalty was Cunningham used a straight arm and was driven out of bounds and when the defensive player kept driving him out of bounds he held on to the face mask.

They made it sound like Malik dragged the guy along by the face mask. That’s nonsense. The defender was running aggressively and pushing MC. His fingers might have gotten stuck in the guy’s face mask but he wasn’t pulling it until they got to the wall. Officiating malpractice.
Agree. I think MC was hanging on so he wouldn't get slammed to the ground.
Regardless of Malik’s straight arm, or his contact with #44’s face mask ……. It was #44 who continued churning his legs out of bounds, and all the way until Malik hit the wall. For anyone to believe that Malik was pulling #44 so he could crash himself into the wall, is simply trying to reimagine the event.
Not sure sufficient magnification is even possible, but there was no “video evidence” that Malik had grabbed the face mask; while that would not necessarily indicate that Malik was actually pulling #44, it would be required to even suggest that was the case. The TV announcer went way over the top when defending #44, and he appeared to realize it later, when he re-directed his praise of Malik career accomplishments.
The official who was closest to the action called it correctly in real time, and he even had a conversation with the other officials before interpreting “unnecessary roughness” that included removing #44 from the game. We now know the “on the field” call was overturned by an anonymous video official outside the stadium interrupted the decision, and injected their own interpretation.

I, and I’m sure you, have seen enough replays to know that we don’t know what “we see”. Because the replay officials see something else.
The joke at our house is, whatever the talking head says will happen…doesn’t.
It’s gotten to where “replay” is a 50/50 call.
I’m of the opinion, that as blatantly wrong as some of these replays turn out, there just might be some money involved somehow.
And on a different note, the LEAGUE calling for that replay, in a non-conference game should settle any doubts as to what the ACC thinks about UofL.
