None other than Bobby Petrino. Interim basis of course, but they said he will get the requisite consideration as the interim coach. Extremely unlikely they would ever go with him again though.

Kind of crazy though that he ends up back where he was

What happened to his young volleyball player, motorcyle riding girlfriend? Petrino could be the Belichick of the SEC

They were damn good out there when he had Darren McFadden and Felix Jones and Ryan Mallett. They tore our defense to shreds.
'07. Remember it well. McFadden and Jones ran at will against Tyrone Nix's inept defense.

This was during the time that our defenses helped solidify Heisman campaigns. Happened with Tim Tebow too, unfortunately.
Same season. Yes, as I stated a few weeks ago Nix should have been in NYC personally presenting the award to McFadden or Tebow (who won it) as both were finalists and had Heisman worthy performances courtesy of our inept defense that season.

My stars, I recall that game. We scored close to 40 points if I recall correctly. I think Arkansas rushed for nearly 500 yards, maybe more. Seemed like they rushed it on just about every single play. It was truly a game where you knew exactly what they were going to do every single play and we absolutely couldn't stop it.

McFadden ran for about 180yds in just the 4th quarter of that game alone. In 3 years against us he averaged about 250 rushing yards a game. Was so happy to see him leave and go pro!

I still think McFadden should've won the Heisman in 2007. At times he carried Arkansas on his back that season, especially during their game against LSU. Playing on the road against the #1 team in the country, vs what was viewed as probably the best defense in the country that year, McFadden still shredded them for over 200 yards. Given the talent Florida had that year they underachieved. Tebow came up short vs LSU, vs Georgia, didn't have any big wins vs great teams that year. Tebow put up numbers vs average teams that season and was nothing more than "stat boy" that year.

Don't forget Felix Jones.

Petrino is undeniably a good coach. But, he is 64. Spurrier was 60 when he came here. Holtx was 62. We all knew that Holtz and Spurrier were short-term solutions before they accepted our job. Petrino would be a short-term solution for Arkansas also. I would go for a younger, proven Head Coach.

If they don't hire Rhett Lashlee, they will have committed athletic malpractice.
IMHO, Lashlee should sit tight, for several reasons 1)SMU can easily match (and/or exceed) in terms of pay structure whatever Arkansas can offer. 2) Arkansas as a coaching destination is Purgatory. Ceiling 9-10 wins, just can't out recruit it's neighbors LSU, Oklahoma or Texas. 3) Lashlee is a very good coach and a great offensive mindset. There will be more and most likely better offers in the near future.
