I guess we'll see just how good Vandy is this Saturday *

This is Vandy's year to do it if they're going to do it. But they have a gauntlet coming up against Bama, LSU, Missouri and Texas and then close against Tennessee. They could finish 7-5. Pick up an upset or 2 and it'll be a nice year for them.

I would expect they come crashing back down last year once Pavia is gone. Before he arrived, they were something awful.

They are taking advantage of Pavia which is the opposite of what we are doing with Sellers.
A premier QB is a terrible thing to waste.
There must be a reason our coaches have not utilized Sellers' the fullest of his capability.

You would think a QB like Sellers would be a gift for coaches looking to prove their worth as coaches.

Yup. I recall when Jackson blew up at Louisville. Every game was all Jackson, all the time. That's how it is most schools when you have a player the caliber of Sellers. The way we have utilized Sellers this season may go down as one of the great blunders in Gamecock history.

Our coaches need to take advantage or get out of the way. It's Beamer's call.

He's our best player. Period. Use him to the max. At least if we lose, we'll know it's not because Sellers wasn't utilized. If we finish with a disappointing record, it'll only be salt in the wound to wonder "what if" regarding how Sellers was utilized.

I actually think the coaches should try to take more off of him. My impression is Sellers believes he has to be "superman" and has to make every play. Therefore, he tends to hold onto the ball to try to "make" a play and instead gets sacked at very inopportune times rather than simply throwing the ball away. On the other hand, there have been several times he has "escaped" to make the play. So, not sure which is worse. We don't really have the O-Line so he thinks he has to be "superman"...

I think our coaches must know the drop off at QB2 is a huge one. The fact that Doty is the backup speaks volumes. They're protecting Sellers.

It could be. i posted a thread pre-season that we better hope sellers never gets hurt b/c doty is our backup. we saw that come to fruition against vandy and what the result would be with doty at QB.

on the other hand, i know if sellers goes down, we're toast. but if we're restricting him, we greatly reduce our chances to win anyway.

Well, Pavia has dropped the gauntlet. Says if Vandy players can tune out the crowd, Vandy will win and it won't be close.

Wouldn't it be great if they go to the playoffs before we do?!?
I think it would be awesome for Vanderbilt to go to the playoffs. And I can see them beating Alabama this weekend as well; I hope they do.

I guess I run different than most. My father was a coach, I love the game. I enjoy watching great players on other teams almost as much as I enjoy watching us.

Best of luck to Vandy.

I think they'll give a good account of themselves. But if they get throttled, how does that make our loss to them look any better?

It can't.

Hey Jacque BOT - we won the game last week in grand fashion. Do you have anything positive to say whatosever about that fact?

It's been days since the victory and all you do is troll.

In fact, all this account ever does is complain and troll.

It's as if you aren't even a fan of USC at all.

Authentic posters see your game.

It will remain one loss.

Once Sellers went down, we could not do much of anything and the time of possession went lopsided in Vandy's direction.

Pavia and that offense are obviously difficult to stop regardless.

Handing them the ball with a bunch of 4-and-outs complicated matters significantly.

I don’t even understand that question. Why would there be an expectation to reflect our game with them one way or another? For that matter, who cares?

It's not that far of a stretch to understand that the better Vandy does for the rest of the year, the better our loss looks. Losing to a 10 win team is more respectable than losing to a 6 win team. And vice versa.

This is pretty standard college football stuff. Unless one just wants to complain.

So now you've got us on the brink of getting in the playoffs and needing better loss optics? :)

So much so that you post/support hypotheticals to work in added critcisms around the edges?

Frog BOT - You and the entire Doubtfire Doom Network are so incredibly transparent at this juncture.

The real fans/posters on this board are now fully aware.

If we were on the bubble of making the ncaa basketball tournament that would make sense. We aint, it dont; nonsensical weak sauce, speaking of standard stuff.

Denying something as simple as quality wins or losses certainly completes the refutiation that youre anything other than butthurt at some posters and just flaming away.

Carry on.

Some people will use this game to help gauge the degree of putrefaction which attaches to our loss to Vandy. You know it as well as I do. If we were in the CFP picture, which we most certainly are not, what happens in the Vandy/Bama game might even matter to us. My essential point was that our loss to them in Columbia will suck perpetually and grossly regardless.

Some losses are just ugly and there's no way to spin it otherwise. If there's any hope the Gamecocks can turn this season around, I'd rather look back on that game as a one-off terrible performance against a decent-but-not-great Vandy team than to think Vandy has figured out the secret sauce to greatness and we have not.

"Some people" wouldn't be very intelligent and probably should be disregarded.

Vandy has been one of the top teams in the country the last two seasons.

They beat Alabama. Auburn and UK. They came within a hair of beating runner-up NC Texas, Missouri, and LSU.

And none of the teams mentioned above lost their starting QB early in those contests.

It's frustrating we weren't able to get our 18th straight win against them....However, chances are we'll start a new streak next season when the 50-year old hot dog departs.

Meh. It’s low brow to disrespect opponents, no honor, no class; tried to point that out before the VT opener. Was ‘putrefaction’ in the air when Spurrier carded consecutive L’s to Vandy? I take that back; given the average social media fan, there probably was.

Those guys work just as hard as we do; we’re not entitled.
