SC showed a series of textbook hits that were all called personal fouls this weekend, and he put the blame squarely on the league. There needs to be more media pressure on this...<div>
</div><div>I'm not for headshots or launching into defenseless players, but when you have a textbook tackle, there should never be laundry on the field because of it.</div>

I disagree with Dilfer. Every NFL hit is like being hit by a truck. It doesn't look bad on TV, but when you hear the collisions in person you cringe. You take the hardest hit you've seen in college, and most NFL hits are just like that.<div>
</div><div>Growing up, I wanted to be an NFL player so bad. Now, I'm glad I was too small, slow, weak, and untalented to play. So many of the guys I watched growing up are now dead, and many more walk around like 95 year old men.</div><div>
</div><div>It's about time the NFL started protecting its biggest assets- its players.</div>

It seems like half of the helmet to helmet personal fouls this year have been on plays where helmets never touched.

That's my issue. If you see someone get blown up, you see a flag, doesn't matter what form the tackle was.

And why aren't they penalizing crack back blocks on punt returns then, if we're going to penalize everyone that delivers a big blow?

I realize it's a double edged sword, because players really do feel serious effects later in life, but at the same time it's football. Unless you turn it into flag football, it isn't going to get any safer.

Dilfer is probably the best NFL analyst on TV

A crack back block is when a wide receiver gets off the ball and "cracks back" toward the ball to make a block (a slot receiver "cracks back" on an outside linebacker defending a sweep). Those type blocks happen at every level, but crack back is only an NFL term because there are specific rules for those type blocks. It wouldn't make much sense to crack back on a punt return.

where the defender led with the shoulder and the flags went flying.
