I say we just take off redshirt of The QB...

Barker may not be the problem and I'm not sure he's the answer either but Aaron Rodgers would have problems with our Oline play. And unless Gunner Hoak can play both ways and coach he won't fix all the problems
Rodgers is capable of scrambling when his O line breaks down.

If he is so great then why could he not beat out Towles for the job?

Because he was a FR competing against a RS Junior who had played in 17 games, starting all 12 the previous season. Regardless of who you are, most of the time an experience starter will beat out his FR competition.

With that said, I am not convinced that Barker is the truth. He has some issues but I do see a ton of potential. I think what most of us are saying, there's a lot more problems than Drew and they are more serious. Our OL couldn't block Valley High School and our defense looks like it's coached by Mike Major. We need to worry about those issues, especially the OL, before pulling a RS off of Gunnar because he'd get murdered out there.

Towles was starting because there was literally no one better not because he was great. A FR QB with as many stars as Barker had should've been able to win the job at some point if they are actually worth their salt.

With the O line play so far we may have to pull the redshirt. The QB's will be broken in half by a CB or LB that comes clean like the kid from UF did yesterday.

I knew Barker was awful when he couldn't beat Towles from the job.

I agree with many of your postings but the bashing of PT who had his issues (accuracy, pocket presence) but also dealt with different OC's every year, an incompetent coaching staff, terrible olines, and wr's with punk *** attitudes is over the top.

PT showed flashes of very good talent, his performances at the swamp and vs a top ranked Miss State defense were very strong.

I hope the kid has a great season and the continued dumping on him is not called for.

It's not personal I just think he is a bad QB and I refuse to feel guilty bashing bad D1 starting QBs. He's living a charmed life so I'm not losing any sleep about it.

Not hurting his feelings, he's had a ton of fans trash him, even though he stayed in state unlike Harris - who looks like a genius now.

The continued bashing is petty, but keep it up if it makes you feel good, but he never had a game like yesterday.

I wouldn't even be talking about him if people on here were not convinced UK would be better off with him.

There is zero doubt PT would have done better yesterday. If you can't recognize that then I overestimated your football intellect.
This is my problem with fans like you. You settle for crap. UK still gets blown out yesterday even with Towles because Towles is never going to be a winning QB in big boy college football. UK fans need to start recognizing what good QBs actually do and it does not include 'flashes'.

No matter who QB'ed yesterday Towles, Barker or Tom Brady, UK would have lost because UK could not stop UF, hell, they couldn't even slow them down.

Only if they are a running QB. A passing QB does need a pocket.
I don't buy that either. A great QB gets his team in positions to take advantage of what the defense is doing. If the pocket isn't holding up you change the calls. Great passing QBs can carry bad Olines. Hell, Teddy did it at UL.

This is my problem with posters like you.

When did I say we win with PT?

I didnt.

When did I say we should settle?

I didnt.

UK does not get QB's ranked higher than PT or Drew.

My point was that these QB's have gone through multiple OC's, had terrible Olines, in PT's case wr's who tanked and received poor coaching.

Drew played awful and has not been nearly as good as those people like you who wanted PT benched, and in fact were wrong, but this weak staff gave in knowing that Drew wasn't ready.

Whining about PT now that he is gone is futile. The kid had great tools and good coaching would have really helped him. Same for Drew.

I like that the fact that you join here in one week and tell all of us, some of us who were actually football commentators and evaluators, and tell us what we dont know and what a genus you are.

Thanks for the contribution.

Yesterday was Barker's 3rd start as a D1 QB. There is no denying he looked the part in the first half against So. Miss. What has happened to him since then has me and many, many others scratching their heads. Our O Line which was supposed to be one of the strength of the team, looked pathetic yesterday. All of that said, I am still trying to comprehend how any college FB team can play 60 minutes and complete only 3 passes. In 2 games, we have only had the ball a total of 40 minutes out of 120 minutes played. Again, how does that happen. Meanwhile our defense has given up over 1000 yards on those 120 minutes. This team is a mess.

BARKER not the answer in any way shape or form...panics back there big time
The O-Line and D-Line is the problem and if it doesn't get fixed it won't make any difference if we have Peyton Manning or Tom Brady behind center!

It's not a science. Plenty of good QBs have overcome bad Olines, multiple OCs, ect. DB and PT are bad QBs. They are never going to be winning QBs. You don't have to be an expert to realize this.

1st sentnce..it is not a science, but it takes a good mind to coach and be a high level QB
2nd sentence...very, very rare
3rd sentence...incorrect, they are at least OK to good QB's
4th sentence...probably correct...ask any UK QB over the last 30 years
5th sentence...agree, you not an expert; not even in the same area code

UL's Oline is always a hot mess but they consistently find QBs that win despite that. Teddy had to deal with a bad Oline, a midseason OC change, and he wasn't a running QB at all. The excuses are tired.

It probably is as bad it just doesn't look that way because of Jackson.
