The video was pretty good was my ONLY point. It appears, at this point in time, that is all we have to offer. We can 17in promote our ****** product.

I especially liked the reference to The Changeling with the basketball bouncing onto the court out of nowhere.Great movie that still scares the **** out of me. I do think when it went from the storm outside the Sad Pad inside, the janitor should have had a mop instead of a court sweeper though.

This video was very strange, indeed.

Anyone can throw together a highlight video to try to get you excited about an upcoming season. Stick a few good plays in a row with some dance/rock/whatever mix followed by "University X Polo, Insert Catch Phrase here". You see the same videos every year. The catch phrase may change. The highlights change to the most recent year's highlights. The music may change, but it's the same thing.

The point is to grab your attention with something different and entertaining in a different way.

Last year they did the Ole Miss Giants video series for a few sports where the players were walking around the campus as giants. It didn't show anything about the sport, but it was different and entertaining. This year, they obviously have the Monster theme.

It's good marketing, because it catches your attention. It's just a shame that our marketing department is doing the best job I have seen in my life, and it's coinciding with a time when the product they're trying to sell couldn't get much lower in value.

The production is top notch.... But there is just so much irony... Are the students afraid of the basketball team initially and need to be turned into brainless monsters to attend a game? Are they sure that's the right way to go about it? Either way... I got a good laugh.

That's the point. Our fans seemed to really like the giants videos last year, and the response to this one has been positive as well. That means they're serving their purpose. Now if the team could actually win enough games to do more than an NIT, then the marketing department might actually be able to capitalize some.

They've done a great job with the coach's show this year too, changing it to "The Season" format, but again all the production value and the good idea is wasted because the product isn't holding up its end of the bargain.

I'm pumped about our marketing/promotions efforts. They've been great, and I hope we keep it up. If we could actually win something important on the field, they'd really be able to take off with it.

I've always complained about our lack of vision in marketing. We're finally getting that part right. I assume if they're actually given something worth selling they'd do that much better.
