I was on the road had to listen to the whole game on 107.5. Was the officiating as bad as Todd & Tommy said it was? Sounds like

I didn't see anything outrageous. The losing team always thinks the refs screwed them. There was no blatant call that changed the outcome.
Yeah, it was a couple of pretty bad misses. Most of the game was normal modern officiating. Officials didn't fumble twice or throw a pick 6. This game could be shown and the watcher told "Pretty much every game this year looked like this. A couple of big offensive plays, but otherwise inept offense. A handful of busted defensive plays, but otherwise solid defense. A couple of 'why was that decision or playcall made' moments. Typical 2025 game for us."

I didn't see that play. I had to leave for a while. ACC replay usually pretty good from what I've seen.
I’m biased. So I judge it based on the tv crew, and they were flabbergasted on multiple occasions, even with replay review.
Please read the rule on running into the kicker vs roughing the kicker so that you don’t look ignorant
Imagine that, the announce crew thought the sec was getting screwed…. Please look up the rules on roughing the kicker vs running into the kicker…. And then look up the rule on the ball hitting the ground while under control before you quote the ESPSEC crew. Both calls 100% by the rules. I don’t really like the rules, but it’s the rules
Clemson had a touchdown called back, and they had four illegal formations called that prevented first downs. Officials did not determine the outcome.
You can go back and look at my posts; I am not one that blames officiating. I do think there were a couple of calls that changed the game in their favor. Why were lost, no, but did charge some of the thought process.
1) The PI towards the goal line was bad.. There was holding, pushing by both players, I don’t know how you single out the defensive player. The WR was just as active. That should have easily been a no call. Also was third down, giving them another set of downs.
2) interception in the end zone was absolutely egregious. Yes the players knee was down, but no football move was made and the ball very clearly came out before the catch was completed all the way to the ground. Take that off and we have the chance for points (changes the decision mashing later when we went for it down 6 instead of the option to potentially tie it)
3) Roughing call, not getting into running into the kicker vs roughing. Unless he absolutely shanked the kick, there is no way it wasn’t tipped. Would I bet my life on that one, no, but I also saw Goodwine (I think it was him) come off the field. Based on his body language, he thinks he got a hand in it.
4) There was another PI call that the official standing 10 feet from did not flag. The back judge 25 yards away did. Extended the drive
Yes, the officiating was terrible. Yes, I do think it affected the course of the game.
We lost because we could not run the football.
We lost because we could not protect Sellars.
We lost because we don’t have enough confidence in our ginormous QB going straight ahead to pick up 6 inches to start the second half. We lost because we could not keep the ball long enough to keep the D on the sideline to rest.
We lost because we decide to take a deep shot in third down after sustaining a drive (for the first time) by running the zone read. Then on fourth trying to boot Sellars on what I’d assume was a pass/keep option despite them spying him all day.

You mean the SEC channel TV crew?
I disagree.... There were 3 calls in particular that were game changers. The int that hit the ground, the guy that rolled into the kicker after he was blocked, and the phantom PI call that kept their scoring drive alive.... Any of those 3 the other way could have changed the game.
Sorry, you can't get blocked into a kicker and it be roughing... And you have to have control all the way through the catch to the ground. Not saying it changed the outcome, but momentum changes a lot of things
These bad calls certainly led directly to Clemson points... too bad we couldn't capitalize when we needed to - on offense or defense. The officials didn't get us into -5 rushing yards at the end of the 2nd quarter.
The officiating sucked. Yes. The game was still there for us, but we call a long throw to the corner on 3rd and 3. Sellers didn't look like he cared when threw it. There was also the tackle on Sellers that the Clemson kid made that would have been our 3rd 50+ yard TD. We immediately went backwards after that play.
As bad as it was, the game is on our coaches and our NFL Qb who looked like he didn't give a cramp for most of the game.
