...who does he take with him from the coaching staff?<div>
</div><div>I'd have to assume Heavesy and Balis for sure. Mirando? Sallach?</div>

any new HC coming here would normally bring in his own assistants anyway. When Mullen came in I know both coordinators were replaced and most if not all of the other assistants.

If we hire a coach with a connection to our program(Hud or Diaz) we probably retain some of those coaches...If we go outside (Briles, Sumlin, Smart) they bring in their own guys....

But those were assistants on a team that has produced a lot of suckage over four of the previous five years. There wasn't much left in the coaching cupboard worth keeping.<div>
</div><div>You would assume that the new coach (maybe Hud) would keep Hughes and Smith in the D Backfield (remember Hughes' son is playing here). Hud knows Melvin well. I'd love to keep Wilson at the DC/DL spot for sure. And Collins at LB's.</div><div>
</div><div>Knox? Who knows where he'd end up.</div>

Since it was an OSU coach (Woody Hayes) that originated that phrase, calling Michigan "That School Up North". And Ohio State really isn't Penn State'srival anyway--it was Pitt, but PSU doesn't play them anymore. What's Mullen going to do without a rival?

As far as the OP, I think I only really care about losing Wilson, Hevesy, and Balis.Especially Wilson and Balis. There may be some other position coaches that really help with recruiting (Smith), that I should probably care about losing, but I don't really know how important they are.
